After several weeks of computer issues, we can now create and share our videos with you once again! These last couple of weeks we have been putting hard work into refinishing our downstairs floors, and recording every step of the way. These poor floors had seen it all! After 100 years of use, we gave them new life! Did they turn out the way you thought they would? Comment below and let us know what you think!
We would love to hear from you!

Jordan!! My husband, who was a builder and renovator for many years, told me to tell you, "Get yourself some knee-pads!!" He is really sorry he didn't wear them when he was young. He is 65 now and paying the price. You two are such a joy to watch. Love your sweet family.

Renovating an old farm house is awesome. We moved into my wife’s great great grandmothers house that was built in 1926. We have renovated the entire down stairs and are getting ready to refinish the upstairs floors. Original hardwood floors are the best. They don’t build houses like these anymore!

Well done !!! As someone who has had to TRY that job.... oh the hard work is right! My husband and I live in my family home now and my Father put white oak wood flooring down through the whole house. Our house was built around 1880 and my parents bought it in 1948. I was the 3 child they had and I’m 63 ....but when I was 7-8 ( I don’t really remember the carpet going down...just memories of the SMELL OF GLUE...YUP GLUE). My Father being a contractor.... he built to last! So around 11 years ago....I wanted the carpet gone and my Dad’s beautiful work exposed! 2 layers of carpet. The 1st was easy to come up... stapled along the wall... BUT the original carpet....GLUED !!! I tried everything the internet suggested! Finally got my husband to agree to a professional company ( that was after weeks of trying to help me get glue off the floors in rooms about the size likes yours! ) They came in... sanded and in 4 hours....gone! Gorgeous floors ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. A few spots needed repairs...small, small spots! Really thought it was going to be outrageous to have done... thankfully it wasn’t! We did natural finish. I wish now I had gone dark....but they look like they did when I was little! 💕😁 So my hat is off to you and your very hard, hard work! But we are older and it was too much, plus working outside the home full time ( both of us and long hours) ... we were trying during evening hours and weekends. My husband turned 71 yesterday... so age was not on our side...LOL!!! Again..WELL DONE...THEY ARE INCREDIBLE !!! So glad you have a new camera and up and running...YOU TWO WERE MISSED !

Wife and I are about to tackle cleaning and painting a 100 yr old floor. Our plan is to wash it down, looking for nails popping out, scrap whatever needs scraping, then paint it. Giving it two coats. I will be wearing knee pads too!!! My old knees will thank me later. You guys did a great job! Come to my place and do mine!! Just kidding. LOL

Almost Half of my 1928 bungalow had oak floors which I did about 5 years ago- they have character after ripping up carpet, 2 layers of lino (brown 9 inch with red border around!) Sanded and painted 1 room of the fir half, now working on my bedroom. Getting the black mastic up is a bear, but now I have my method down with an adhesive remover. It will also have Character after lighter stain plus poly coat. Thanks for showing the products you used- very helpful! God bless you and the sweetness of your family

Such a beautiful job! I want to know how exhausted you were each night after all that work!! My body would’ve been yelling for an epsom salt bath ... and a heating pad afterwards on my back ! I’ve done floors in a house I used to have so I have an idea of how much work that involves 🙃 I remember one time after helping pick up the old shingles from when we did the roof I could barely hold myself up to eat dinner 😱

It’s beautiful!😍🥰 It’s darker than I want mine, because my walls are dark tongue/groove pine as well and it’s impossible to get good lighting in here. On mine, I would try to find a lighter, shinier finish. Bout 11 years ago, we just slapped carpet on the floors because of staining, rotted spots, etc. Now, I HATE the carpet and want to pull it up to repair/refinish the floors, but can’t even afford to put in new carpet right now, so I KNOW I can’t afford this, even if we do it ourselves. I would love it so much though! It’s so amazing! I wish I could get my husband to devote himself to a home project, instead of a new fast motor project 😒

Hello there. I wanted to share it when I saw the newspaper under the blackboard. Turkey and the geography of our need to be repaired once the old building sections removed when inside a small glass bottle by an architect who is building there is a note explaining that he should be how to repair the section of general and new masters perform the repairs, just as it is described in the note. the reason for this is primarily respect for the builder and then respect for labor. love is ...

Stumbled across this video and really enjoyed it. I am a hardwood flooring contractor by trade (commercial gym floors) and I must say this is the best DIY floor project I have seen on YT. The only thing I cringed on was "two coats of stain". Word of caution to those watching, this introduces a high chance of bonding issues and potential finish peeling. But holy cow the end result was spectacular! Loved how you did your repairs and able to hide the new material mixed with the old reused salvaged boards. Also, that type of floor sander is usually VERY hard to use without leaving machine marks and I didn't see any. Great technique and you actually followed your grit progression. Bravo guys!!

The floor turned out beautiful! About 50 yrs. ago I finished a splintery old T&G pine floor in my parents' home. I remember everything you both went through. A lot of work but so pleasing when done. I used a Minwax oil based finish (4 coats). My brothers used to love to slide on it in their stocking feet. FWING! The finish lasted 20 yrs and was still good when we sold the house. Good luck with the fixer-upper! Eventually you will be able to sit down and enjoy!

Very nice to see some one doing the job correctly. The way you back cut the boards to cover the hole ( known as lacing in ) is the way is should be done. Using a proper under layment instead of that pink rosin paper is also correct. This will provide both moisture and termite protection for years to come.. I have been restoring and re-finishing wood floors for 55 plus years and it is great to see some one doing repair work properly. As an instructor and certified wood tech. GREAT JOB!!!!!
