It looks so beautiful! I was wondering if you had to deal with ungrounded outlets. How did you do that?

All you needed was a piece of 36 grit sand paper on the big machine and it would have took all that up

Hi my name is Kevin. I've been looking for a video like this. My floor and subfloor in my house is exactly like this. My sub floor 13/16. What size board will fit this tomatch my old subfloor so that my patch to the original floor will be level and even without dips.would 1x6 common board work with a thin sheet of plywood to give me 13/16 or would 3/4 plywood work as a subfloor... please advise

Why did you paint the ceiling grey before covering it with the white washed lumber?
@wadest1163

The easier way to do this is to plane it using a planner at the highest setting, you lose 1mm of wood but it is so much faster, level with 26 grit.

Too bad... so much wasted effort. Please, folks, do your homework before starting a project like this! The good: the floor joist repair was OK. I'm assuming the joists were screwed in? Ideally, I would have sistered LVL and glued and screwed with lag bolts. The bad: the walls should have come down, the structure inspected, repaired, and appropriate insulation and sealing done. Without proper insulation and vapor barrier, there will be moisture infiltration and possibly mold/rot (ESPECIALLY with the cathedral ceiling!). I'm trying to be helpful and not troll. It saddens me to see such wonderful people with good hearts make such devastating mistakes. I've had the good fortune to have engineers in my family. Good luck!

I found the mastic comes off rather easy with heat gun and putty knife but has a bad smell for a day or three afterwards but a happy result in the end

I did this is our home and I was physically destroyed from it. I had to take off about 3/16s of the floor bc of old lead paint. Don't use a drum sander it's horrible

This is amazing. We just bought a small hobby farm (we'll move in August), and it has an unused silo in the middle of the property too! I was wondering what we'd do with it! Ours doesn't have a roof, though. 😂

Hi! I just happened on this video and am so glad I did. I see this was a from years ago but I can't wait to see the progress. I would love to have been able to go through all of the treasures. I'm so jealous! It's such a shame that the kids these days have no interest in their families past full of great treasures. When my grandma passed my Mom and I got to go through her belongings and it was interesting to me. We found a book of food rationing stamps from post WW2. It was all so interesting to me and I still have some of the treasure we found. It's sad bc it seems like noone cared about her. I'm getting old and I'm sure it will be the same when I pass, but I hope my boys will at least clean all my stuff out so the landlord doesn't have to. I'm definitely hitting that subscribe button and cant wait to see what you have done with it. Thank you so much for the tour. Gods speed!

The floor turned out beautiful! About 50 yrs. ago I finished a splintery old T&G pine floor in my parents' home. I remember everything you both went through. A lot of work but so pleasing when done. I used a Minwax oil based finish (4 coats). My brothers used to love to slide on it in their stocking feet. FWING! The finish lasted 20 yrs and was still good when we sold the house. Good luck with the fixer-upper! Eventually you will be able to sit down and enjoy!
