Mine too and she was 85 when she passed the recipe on to me.. she was native American and considered the recipe really special because it was so different from what she was used to from the res recipes and the native recipes she was a medicine woman and considered this a healing recipe because it made everyone feel so good.

My sugar cookies was a success!! After adding the butter mixture to the flour it wasn't as flaky as yours, so i ended up using probably 3 more cups of flour to get the dough to the right texture. other then that, they taste delicious!! I even took a shot glass and made some small ones out of the last of the dough..lol Thanx Ms. Rose!! xoxox (P.S....I pretended we were cooking together and had me some bud light in a glass too..lol :)

Hi, I'm only beginning to bake homemade sweets (I'm more of a dinner cooker😀), I know this video is 3 years old but Ms Rose THANK YOU so much! The only woman I know in my hometown that makes tea cakes has retired from making them. She would never share her great-grandmother's recipe and I don't blame her😀. My mother loved to make tea cakes when I was younger she made them every weekend with two different pies we always have dessert and always had tea cakes she used to cut them and two different shapes she never made them round and everytime I watch someone make them they make them a little different than she did but I love watching people make tea cakes I have never made them but I've always watched someone make them and I always wrote down the recipe but since I'm raising my grandchildren now I think I will start making them for them so they can have the memories and share them with their children when they're grown thanks so much for sharing just saying

My mother and my oldest sister use to make them when I was a little girl living in the south but mama and my older sisters and brothers were born in Tuskegee, Alabama and moved to Florida before I was born. I never learned how to make tea cakes. Probably because I didn't like them that well(but you ate what was given to you). I am going to try making and I might have a liking for them.
