I love rutabagas the first time I ever had them. I was living at the homeless shelter in the Salvation Army, ( the staff that cooked were great!) and then a few years later I cooked them for Thanksgiving and they were a hit and I loved them so much. Thank you for this recipe.

I LOVE RUTABAGA! I make them with butter and salt only.. “maybe” a tiny bit of pepper, served with collards , Mac N Cheese and yeast rolls. Sometimes people will mix the collards with collards…soooooo good! My Mom loved them too. I bought a pressure cooker and that cuts the time in half. I was scared at first to use it.. but “nowadays”.. you just have to “set it and forget it”.. they say use one cup water but I always use 2 because rutabaga likes water.😊🥄🥣🧈🧂

Hi Ms. Brenda Dee!!! I thought it said greens. I don't know why. I never ever ate this type of a veggie. Never ate bottoms of a turnip green either. I watched your video and it was interesting. Is this by the name...A Southern dish??? Maybe I will give it a try one day if I ever come by this veggie. Looks good...Take Care and GOD Bless...Nice Video!!!...🦋

She has very strong hands to make cutting off the peel look "easy" 😂 Cuz that's hard as heck to do! But oh so worth it in the end. 😋

I cut them smaller and cook in salted water. When tender mash just like potatoes and add butter salt pepper and cream. Top with a sprinkle of fresh dill. Whipped rutabagas yumm

Have any of ya'll ever cooked them in a slow cooker/crockpot?? 🤔
@meri92148 ай бұрын
No need...they cook in 40 minutes or less (if cut in small pieces); would probably be mushy in a crockpot!
