Everyone knows what can drive prices Supply and demand. Games seem to be going one direction right into peoples collections. People snapping up everything sealed in site based on speculation.

This is really true. I noticed recently that my local game stores are placing the common games behind the glass that would normally be placed on shelfs. They haven’t been getting any new games to move and the place just has the same stuff all week around. As a collector, the thrill of game hunting has really diminished. Im happy people can make money but its getting a little much. Its not stopping me though. Just getting less excited for it.

Great video, as always. I find a lot of similarities to the rise of baseball card collecting in the 60’s and 70’s, and then the subsequent grading boom in the early 2000’s. You had a small group of people that were dedicated completionists-no one thought to hoard 1952 Topps Mickey Mantles, they were just trying to complete the 1952 Topps set. Eventually the amount of people asking for just Mickey Mantle overtook the number of people asking for the rare high numbered cards of average players (the Flintstones Dino’s Peak of the card world) but a rising tide lifted all boats, just not all at the same rate. Grading allowed for further stratification-not only can a person have a 1952 Topps Mantle, they can have one of the 10 nicest ones on the globe. Really interested to see if it plays out similarly.

Great video. I feel supply will be refilled soon. I don't believe the younger generations are as invested in these collections as we are now, and many of us are moving in to the ages we're time and heart disease are picking us off quickly. I could be wrong, I do feel it sucks for those of us that are wanting to just play and enjoy these games having to fight for scraps against those who are buying because it might just be a quick buck down the road.

Something I meant to bring up in this which I didnt, is that something to note is the younger generation, because of these prices, is actually more financially invested in to these items so I think its less likely they will let go of their Pokemon emerald when they know it cost them $120 for a loose copy. We can never definitively know any of that, and it will always boil down to the individual, but I also collect and even as a reseller I'm priced out of a lot of things I would want that I no longer would want to pay anymore, things move so fast its hard to Keep up. When did legend of Dragoon black label start selling for $100+? I looked, last one we sold at the shop was $40. The times are changing.

The fact that the new stuff is super hard to impossible to get has caused all of this. Can't get a PS5, XBOX SX, or a graphics card for your PC no matter if it's Nvidia or AMD. This has pushed us all into a video game apocalypse. People are trying to get literally anything that they can and hold on to it tight because if they sell the old stuff high now they'll have to buy the new stuff even higher. I don't see it coming to an end until something is done about eBay.

Nice video. One doubt, could you explain why you’ve said that GAMEYE is showing lower prices? As far as I know they just take the actual average prices on Price Charting and displays it. Regards from Brazil!

Prices are high from price gouging and buyers being very eager to overpay. Mass produced scarcity

I have been noticing this as I've been getting into collecting, GameCube games I bought in 2019 and early 2020 have raised at least 10 to 20 dollars in value, and like you were saying the sudden jump in the pokèmon games was something I've recently noticed. I was in the store today and was honestly shocked to see how much Pokèmon Ruby and Sapphire had raised in price. I bought Sapphire just a few years ago for ~20 bucks, now Sapphire is about 60 and Ruby is about 70.

Hello Trade-N-Games, i have a question regarding a WATA game i recently got back from grading. What should you do if you notice that the front of the capsule has "scuff marks" on the front of it and the back is pristine? Contacting WATA by phone is almost impossible, i cannot figure out how to get a person to talk to, i have to always email them and it's very frustrating. The scuff marks are not horrible, you have to tilt the product back and forth in a light to see them, but i am worried it could potentially hurt the value if/when i decide to sell. Is this something i should be worried about? Should i contact them? And if so, what steps do you think i should take? Thank you very much for your time!

Email is the only course of action as it currently stands. To the best of my knowledge their former customer service representative is no longer working for them, so I imagine that is something they are working on. I've seen some acrylics show some scuff marks myself, I dont think it will hurt the value very much, but I'd imagine WATA will cover the cost of a reholster for you, but it will likely be a lengthy process until you receive it back unfortunately.
