I'm learning a lot about learning tunes by ear. Thanks a lot!

this is great. Learning by ear/heart is a noble practice. And I think it's a great way to connect with people.

Shannon Heaton it’s perfect. Was looking for something to go with My Darling Aleep. Learning Haunted House next. You’re doing a real service for the tradition.

@@gwgtaylor Haunted House is also really nice in A (even though Vincent Broderick wrote it in G). And not difficult on the simple system flute... Try it out!

This is beautiful! My wife is learning to play this on the whistle and I would love to accompany her on the guitar - do you happen to know if there are any tutorials on the guitar part? Thanks for everything!

Thank you , I want to learn the Irish flute, it is much harder to play in the silver flute
@ShannonHeatonMusic2 жыл бұрын
So happy you are interested in Irish flute, Michele. I'm sure you will find joy with it.... and really, it's not so different from anything you already know. Get the music in your heart first, and you'll find it on the instrument!

Beautiful playing. Would you have a recommendation for a good beginners flute?
@ShannonHeatonMusic Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your encouragement! As for beginner flutes, I'd know less than Blayne Chastain. Check this vid out, and then get in touch with him for more ideas?? kzbin.info/www/bejne/poaZo6Z-gqh1jMU

What key is your flute? I'm new to all of this.
@ShannonHeatonMusic2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Matt. Welcome to all of this! And an Irish flute is in concert pitch, just like the modern Boehm system flute. Though we call it a "D flute." I guess because the lower note (if you don't have the lower keys) is a D, and the instrument accommodates a D scale neatly.
