This was how battles and wars were fought before the introduction of bullets and guns. Many soldiers died by decapitation. May their souls rest in peace.

Great video witnessing times gone by. The french commentary sounds very outdated but is interesting, aside from the factual description, it tends to depict things in a poetic, precious, almost impressionist way, typical of those times.

Krabi are Malays. I wonder if this martial art is purely Malay or Malay mixed with Thai?
@featherstone22263 жыл бұрын
It’s Thai. It existed in Thailand since the 1600’s. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krabi%E2%80%93krabong It doesn’t really look similar to any Malay martial arts that I know.
@muayboran61112 жыл бұрын
I doubt it's malay... I'd say it's probably Myanmar, Khmer and Mon mixed with traditional Thai ahomese martial art as they came down from India, asam to Myanmar and further down. Of course, Ayuthaya had influences from all over from india to japan and of course Malaysia. Not even Pattani but Satun were trading partners with Ayuthaya and many became mercenaries to fight in the south and were given land as a gift by the king in Ayuthaya and the community still exists to this day.

The fact that they go in front of a palm tree on purpose to cut it tho
*Some facts about Thaiachira* A spin-off of Muay Chaiya, which originated from a student sports group at Ramkhamhaeng University and therefore has nothing to do with old fighting styles, but pretends to make themselves important. The chairman of Thaiachira (Kru Lamp) has no qualification as a teacher (Krob Kru). He has also never fought in a boxing ring. His sword knowledge is based solely on student sports and stage fencing (Krabi Krabong), which is taught at the university. The rest comes from Muay Chaiya, which can also not be called an old or a real Thai martial art. The Muay from the city of Chaiya mainly refers to a certain Ajarn Ket Sriyapai. Ket Sriyapai was the son of a governor who was active in sports promotion and brought Muay Veti fighters (Muay Thai) from Chaiya to Bangkok to promote them there. Ajarn Khet never learned Muay Thai himself. The only reason why he is called "Ajarn" is that he has written and published some (fictional) stories about Muay Thai fighters. Ajarn Ket came from a high-ranking family and therefore never fought in a boxing ring. That would have been inappropriate for his standing. His actual profession was civil servant in the building industry. Later Muay Chaiya generations (for example Ket's school friend Tonglor Yalee) mixed normal Muay Thai techniques with Silat (Indonesia), Wushu (China) and Jiu Jitsu (Japan). For these reasons Muay Chaiya, and everything that comes from this direction, can neither be called an old nor a real Thai martial art. So then the question is what are the real old battle test combative weapon martial arts
@wisdomelves58383 жыл бұрын
Half of Thailand is originally Malay and the other half is originally Khmer. After taking over those lands, Thais took both arts and cultures mixed them together and preserved them. That's what makes Thailand today unique.

@@sorisara6427 You said Malays copied silat from china, but then you edited it. How funny you are. Malays are not Malaysia nor Indonesia. Malays include both of them. The original people of Southeast Asia are Malays and Khmers and their relatives. The others only came recently.
