I still today have '"nightmares" about some of the situations I got involved in trying to help people! I will subcribe and try to catch up on some of your past content . I have the exact same fan. The old motor had to be oiled annually. The only way to do it, was remove it from the fan, just like Steve did here. It was a royal pain to get the motor shaft out, and back in. I used a hammer and a punch to get it out. I sanded the shaft, cleaned it, putna coating of 3-in-1 oil on the shaft, and reinserted it into the fan.

I have a 35 year old mid efficiency gas furnace. In 2021, the motor died one night and the house was chilly. I pulled out the motor myself. It took 3 days to find a replacement. I did the labour, and the motor still cost me about $285 CAD. Took 4 hours to change it, inc. time to vacuum the furnace, clean the flame sensor, change the capacitor, etc... Would've cost me over $800 CAD had I had a Pro do the job.

Nice Video, Steve! Thanks for sharing. I have a house up in Saratoga NY... like 4 hrs from you. Damn pilot light keeps blowing off when it's windy. I want to know if there is a conversion from thermocouple pilot light to a thermal ignitor. If not, I will change the entire furnace. It's a 30 yrs old 85% efficient Bryant anyway. It works great but the pilot light is a nuisance.
@stevenlavimoniere11 күн бұрын
there is a pilot adjusting screw ... follow the aluminum pilot line back to the gas valve there you will see a small regular screw cover cap with a rubber gasket to seal .. remove the retaining cap and watch the pilot and back out the screw a bit with thermostat screw driver then re attach the seal cap .the pilot hood might have debris in it also best to blow out with compressed air to clean out any debris in pilot hood i use a long 1/4 rubber hose and blow in tube sometimes to clean out pilot hood debea .. i would try to raise pilot first .or maybe thy a chiminy cap .. you might have a bad heat exchanger so fan in blowing out pilot more luckly your problem ... best to call in a pro to check heat exchanger and co levels in duck work

Run caps help the motor run not start. Keep the sine waves more evenly. So that would not affect the motor starting. Just running
@mqe73M10 күн бұрын
That is incorrect you can test this very easily
@johnj4860Күн бұрын
Run caps do but START CAPACITORS are needed to kick the rotation off. Often in conjunction with an internal centrifugal switch to cut the starting current once the motor is spinning.
@johnj4860Күн бұрын
I would have pulled the motor out and checked the bearings ran free before dashing off for a new one. Some of those old motors have bush bearings which respond well to cleaning and lubricating. Good for another 10 years
