I may be wrong but your board would not send power to the draft mtr because it did not identify the your pressure switch was open
@hvac_man96Ай бұрын
I’m willing to bet there’s nothing wrong with that board. The water in the pressure switch was causing it to not go to a NO position, which was preventing the furnace starting a heat cycle. Plugged trap causes water to pull up into the switch.
@benjaminscott3314Ай бұрын
I just did a repair on one of these. No power to thermostat or the blower. Swapped the control board and it was all set. Enjoyed the video.

Check condensate drain line to floor drain ! If has no trap and end is into drain deep into water of it's trap ,water will build back up to pressure swith and prevent ignition !

When the customer is happy, the Tech is a hero :) From SE Texas Bear Retired HVAC Tech and Journeyman Electrician.. 72 now, just work on mine now lol Enjoyed the video - like the way you use process of elimination to trouble shoot. A trouble shooter us worth their weight in gold, a part changer needs to work for a trouble shooter... saves customers lots of money - thanks

Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and experience in this video. you are tops in the industry. Since we heard the relay click to the induction motor and we know the induction motor is good I'll bet you had a cold solder connection on the board between the relay and the plug connector. Of course, changing the board is a sure fix as opposed to spending time soldering the board in hopes of fixing the board. However, if you don't have the correct board in stock, it only takes a few minutes to resolder those connections and see if that does the job. At any rate nice job!

Good job ted,your a top notch tech.but an honest one at that.keep up the good work

The board might not even be bad. If the pressure switch is closed before it tells the inducer motor to come on it will set that code.

Awesome, and I absolutely agree with you that they call for a mechanic and they send out a salesman. It’s all about selling new stuff anymore. I’m like you I like to put in new equipment to if it needs to be done not just because I’m trying to make some kind of a sales quota or whatever. I know probably about all these big companies do that crap Shame on those guys. I know people who do that kind of stuff. I always try to fix something if it can be fixed if they need or want a new piece of equipment I’m happy to do it for them.

Sometimes those boards get a cold solder joint break especially around the relays or a relay went bad. Sometimes I will re-solder the joint or replace the relay. Depends on the customer.

Pretty good video love me some furnace diagnosis. But the 3 blinks should have been checked first, and you would have found the water. But I like the jump you made. I've never thought of that. I'm not absolutely sure the board was needed. But I also wasn't there. You have a great demeanor about you though.

There is a lot of companies in my town that tell the HVAC mechanics you failed the unit and sell a new one we will give you $1,000 or so but for me I own my own company and I believe in customer service first I will service the unit until the customer decides they need a new one or the unit really fails
@KevinfinityDrumsАй бұрын
You said it best, they send salesmen instead of technicians. Damn shame.

Yup, people that solved a problem, were upfront about pricing, explained options to me or talked me out of things I thought I needed but didn't, are always getting the next call and the next call after that from me when its time to spend money again. Service makes the sale. "Not the cheapest in town, but you feel good about the money you spent."
@lesterhall634711 күн бұрын
great job, a real tech. Going to the sequence of operation. This is what led you to fixe. I think jumping the pressure sw would confirm the board was bad. I would replace the press sw, it should not have water in it

My grandma’s condensate pump for her furnace/AC went out and they tried to sell her a new system because “it’s old”. On top of that, they were going to replace her perfectly fine Trane XB with a Lennox. She originally went for it but After I talked to her about it she cancelled. The sad thing is this company installed the system originally and has always been good to her up until this point.
@DaveBigDawgАй бұрын
That's part of the problem even with technicians They make them sale's men or women and give them incentives to sell instead of repair.
@DennisBuckley-yd6clАй бұрын

@HERITAGEWVАй бұрын
If that pressure switch was full of water I will bet condensate isn’t draining from the secondary, it’s backing up and filling the switch with condensate Give the condensation drain a good flush or it will probably fill right back up Maybe not, I’ve just seen it many number of times and feeding some food for thought for anyone having pressure switch fault codes or finding water in the switch. Check and flush condensation!

I wish all pros would film their work like this and present it to the customer at the end. A lot of car dealerships service depts do this now. Or at least showing you what they see. Maybe not the whole job. It shows transparency. And just because they know how to do whatever you did now doesn’t mean they want to.

Got my own Testo flue gas analyzer for many grand since locals here just want to replace furnaces based on age.. common tricks are cutting thermostat wires by furnace or at thermostat.. goal is sell you new system. Sadly the higher efficiency systems have more complexity and often get replaced here if just a few years old. A further problem is after major hurricanes like Katrina Ac units got "fixed" with just a new condenser. So house has whatever sort of worked fix. Ie miss matched system 2 ton a coil and 4 ton outside unit. So hvac folks have to deal with old stuff that is miss matched so replacing everything is often required since a mess. When here you use a furnace only a few months a year replacing a clean running older 80 percent unit has no return on investment *here* at all. This drives the sales guys crazy. Not sure what the answer is. Have neighbors that are on their 2nd to 4th new Ac and Furnace since Katrina in 2005. Ie 19 years ago. My Trane 80 percent furnace is 29 years old and runs clean. Maybe the world is going to pickups and furnaces will last just 3 years?

Question: I have had an issue for a looooong time. My pilot light goes out intermittently. I am so accustomed to it that I forget it is not normal. The thermocouple has only been cleaned. I have noticed that the pilot light will stay on all summer but during winter if it gets down below about 30 degrees it will go out intermittently. Could it be aligned wrong?
