Most heartbreaking story that my grandmother told me was about my Uncle being tossed in a garbage can upside down. he couldn't get out because it was too narrow and also too deep but eventually my grandmother and his sisters found him. Just because of him being gay (in Montgomery, Al in 1970's). they sent him up North for his safety and he became our Nanny-Uncle for several years before returning to Alabama. I loved and still love my Uncle Charlie so much, I miss his laugh, him singing, his kind eyes and awesome suits with Fedoras.
