Sweet old k20. Question; does the stock K20 brakes safely stop that weight? My K20 has a steel flatbed and the factory brakes can't handle it
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms Жыл бұрын
Yes it has good breaks. You may may need to up grade the front pads they make small a large for it, got mine from Napa, make sure you get the large the other important thing is the drum brakes on the back need to be adjusted very often probably every 500 miles. Make sure the rear pads are in good shape and have plenty of pad on them by looking trough the inspection holes also make sure the rear seals arnt leaking oil into the rear drums. The pedal should feel firm and not spongy. If it’s spongy you could have air in the system that needs to be bled mine gets air in it on its own sometimes, or the master cylinder is bad or has air in it. Also if the brake light in the dash is on and the park brake isn’t set the diverter valve could be switched to the front or rear if you have blown a break line, it’s a safety feature. The diverter is on the back of the front frame cross member. Also if it’s pulling to one side in the front sometimes those rubber hoses from the frame to the caliper go bad internally or the calipers is stuck. It’s also confusing in this way, if it pulls to the left the right side has a problem. If it pulls to the right the left side has a problem. Hope this helps.
@stephenlamphier1141

@@DLHFarms it has a new vacuum booster, master cylinder, pads are recent front and rear, rear brakes adjusted, lines bled and it still won't lock up the rear wheels under hard pedal pressure

6 scoops of wood per load for $140 here in Kansas City that would be over $500. I just bought a “cord”of kiln dried oak and a 1/4 “cord” of hickory and it was $700. The so called cords here aren’t 4’X 4’X8’ it’s more like 3’X 3’X 6’ it’s so misleading! It’s a face cord I guess……wish I could get a couple loads of your wood!

I’m looking at a single rear wheel 83 k20 flat bed with steak sides and flatbed also dumps. I want to use it for firewood also but am concerned about overloading it. Not sure if it’s mostly hard wood or softwood by you but your truck seems to be handling that load very well. It’s all hardwood by me and the 83 also has air bags to help with the load. Thanks for the video. Do you ever feel that you overload your truck?
