Decima from the same album as this song is one of my favorite songs of all time. I don't believe many people appreciate it as much as I do, it's very underrated in my opinion. I always say that my two favorite songs of all time are Katatonia's 'Decima', and Riverside's 'River Down Below'.

Katatonia doesn't resonate with everyone, but are easily my favorite band, This song captures such a dark haunting vibe, I love it. If I had to pick my favorite Kat song, it would be Heart set to divide.

This song is all about a particular mood. Everyone I know had a similar reaction. It grows on you with each listen, as you connect the lyrics to your own situations in life. From a structure standpoint, its unique. They released this song at the same time as Serein. The video for Shifts is SAD (From this album). By far my favorite from this album was Sanction.

it's certainly a song that's growing on you. I didn't care much about it the first time, but now it's my favorite. I just love the arrangament and the structure and the production as well as the lyrics. that little guitar solo theme is so beautiful it's heartbreaking. I really like how the chorus is one big sentence cut up to pieces with fragile varations in each line melodically. and I have nothing but respect for the sentiment "For every dream that is left behind me, I take a bow" - having had the dream and pursuing it is indeed something to applaud even if it didn't come through in the end. and just accepting it instead of lamenting about it is just idk, a nugget of true wisdom.

Hello! Big big time Katatonia fan here. Even got a tattoo ahah If My Twin is your jam id suggest you listen to these: Teargas, Evidence, Dead Letters, The Racing Heart, Forsaker, Wait Outside, Impermanence and Lacquer. Although id highly recommend you to give a chance to more atmospheric songs like Decima, Pale Flag, Second and Vanishers. Cheers! I can tell you really dig their lyrics and that's very cool. :)

*snort* Yeah, they've been around for some time. Heard them first mid 90s when Brave Murder Day was released. Different tone then, way more Doom, but just as different compared to what else was out there around them.

I really enjoy discovering new music and your channel is the best place for that!! Plus, the delightful commentary!!! He has kind of a Corey Freaking Taylor singing voice. I know the feeling of having a song just take over life. I recently got into NF and his song Running became one I have on repeat. Not huge into rap or hip hop, (or asking for a reaction to be clear lol) however his lyrics just grabbed me. Happy Easter to all!!!!

There's a distinct Katatonia sound between their original death metal sound and the new sound that they've had for over 10+ years now. That "middle" sound is my favorite of theirs. Much different than anything youve listened to thus far.

Im so happy you picked a different album, it's an good song. There are so many more songs to find. The album before this, Night is the new Day, is probably my favorite, so I'm kinda biased. Onward into Battle, Forsaker, Liberation, The longest year, and The Promise of Deceit. I'm happy you decided to check them out, and I look forward to finding more of their amazing music.

@@16dbuse That's definitely a trait that Katatonia has. Their new albums will seem to have certain songs that are huge departures from their usual sound, but it doesn't take long for it to grow on you.

I love this song, and unlike some of the comments saying this song grew on them with a few listens, I loved it the first time I heard it. Great song, my favorite from this album and I’ll take this over my twin any day but to each their own, it’s funny though because for me a song like my twin is ok, nothing special, whereas this I can listen to anytime, and even a couple times in a row but I’m not playing either of these songs on loop for an hour lol
