Myself and my 2 boys were disappointed you weren’t at the ploughing this year Adrian, i think every influencer in Ireland was there lapping up the attention! But i have to give you the full respect as while others were posting photos with companies and selling there merch you posted a video of how happy you were that your calves were better and were out at your work as normal. You didn’t let stardom change you, an honest hard grafter mate. Always encouraging others to give stuff a go. I’ll shake your hand one day sir

I think it’s important to try and stay grounded when on social media as it can consume you very easily. Tell your boys I said hi and hopefully we’ll catch you all another time. 👍

When watching you go about your work on your family cottage, I almost think I can read your mind as you smile and picture one of your daughters being carried over the threshold with her betrothed. I then see you round a corner with gutters while imagining smiling at granddaughters and perhaps a grandson looking up to the field wanting to ride with you on the tractor while making bales. I hear your wife saying she knows the exact color for the new windows you plan to install while they’re gone to town. That’s what this project is about. It’s about doing a great job because it’s for family. It’s about knowing you will always have a roof to cover someone in need of such. It’s about love, legacy and lore. Bravo from Oklahoma, USA.

Adrian, another way of thinking, the cottage was there before your dad was born, possibly even before your great grandparents. With it being local to you, it is, in it's own way, a part of your familiy's history. It's easy to just replace, an excavator would have it away in half a day, but that cottage has heart, no new modern dwelling will ever replace the history. Great work, as always 😁😁😁

FFS..I about fell out of my chair laughing at the paint 'getting the all of window sills...even around the corner'. It looks like a completely different cottage with the exterior walls repaired, new gutters, and painted. Awesome! What an absolutely gorgeous area in the aerial views. You are absolutely right that ANYONE can do these projects, you just have to get over your fears of doing a bad job. If you do a bad job, you learn something from it, correct it, then do a better job on the next project and so on. Just like everything, practice and you get better. You will find that the cost of a job is about 1/3 materials and 2/3 labor. So, if you look at it this way: spend 1/3 of the job cost on the materials, 1/3 of the job cost on tools, you are paying yourself the remaining 1/3 as profit (sweat equity). Your next job will cost even less and go quicker because you now have experience AND tools. They both grow with every project you do. At 61, I do nearly all of my own vehicle and home maintenance, have done many renovation projects on several of my own houses as well as rental properties, and helped family and friends because I have : 1) little fear of trying something new, 2) a vast array of skills from doing projects, and 3) a sizeable collection of tools. I figured out long ago, why would I want to pay someone else good money to do crappy work for me when I can do that myself for free! Seriously, start small, give new things a try, watch videos (like this one and nearly anything else you want to try is on KZbin), and work to succeed.

I recall my dad saying one of the first things to do with an old place is fix the roof. No sense doing anything until you can be sure the rain won’t come along and undo it. True you might have to fix enough of the building to support the new roof, but other than that, roof first.
