I feel great knowing that i lived in irvine during that time and remember every place in the photos, Then came progress, Not many people whom i spoke with at the time, Did not want the heart ripped out of irvine, I moved to brechin a great little city,Still in the old stage like irvine used to be. Thanks for posting this little gem.

Does any footage exist of Meadowpark hut owners site ( now the paper mill) which was on the old original A736? I spent my summers as a child there with many happy memories.

Great photo's. I also have some good ones of ma Dad doon the harbour a long time ago!!! Also born and bread in Irvine as well as my Dad. Proud to be from Irvine!!! I will tell you something though I have lots of friends that moved from Glasgow and they are a great bunch of guys. So nothing to do with where your from, there were/are tons of idiots before the Glasgow folk came. And as I said I am fron Irvine and very proud of the fact.

You still call it Cunninghame District Council? I thought it was changed to North Ayrshire these days! But I do remember the CDC! Mind you I still barely remember Ayr County Council before it became Strathclyde Regional!
