Fantastic collection. How then Madras was beautiful and princely city by British rule with their Building architecture showcasing the marvel and beauty of irreversible structures like the High Court Buildings and other historic buildings like Ice House, Presidency college Light House, Santhome Church and many, many buildings still stand tall even now and the Tram services moving across the roads a delight. Only to think Old is Gold

ஆதிமனிதன் வாழ்ந்த சென்னைக்கு தமிழன் வைத்த பெயர் சென்னி ... சென்னை ; சென்னியம்மன் ஆதிகுடிகள் தமிழ்க் குடிகள் குல தெய்வம் பெயர் ; மல்லபுரம் என்ற பெயரும் இதன் பண்டைய துறைமுக பகுதியில் துலங்கிய பெயர் , அதனை பழவேற்காடு என்று மாற்றி உள்ளனர் , இது தெலுங்கு நாயக்கர் பெயரால் வந்த பெயர் என்பது போலி வரலாறு. சென்னியப்ப நாயக்கர் பெயரால் வந்தது அல்ல . முதலில் சென்னியப்ப நாயக்கருக்கு அந்த பெயர் எப்படி வந்தது என்று தமிழர் சிந்திக்க வேண்டும். தமிழ் நாட்டை ஆள வந்த அந்நியர்கள் வரலாற்றை நாசம் ஆக்குகிறார்கள்.

He is Chennappa Naicker not as mentioned. In those days there is no Tamil and Telugu variation. The entire area is called as Thondai Mandalam. Thondaman Chakravarthy ruled north Tamil Nadu and Andhra. Madras Presidency comprising of Tamil Nadu Andhra Pradesh part of Kerala and Karnataka existed till 1956. Language chaunism came only after 1967.

Cock and bull stories are coming about Chennai's name. During Tamil Sangam age only Thiruvallikkeni Mylapore and Thiruvotriyur villages existed. Alwars Divyaprabandham and Samayakuravar Nalvar's Thevaram and Thiruvasagam are evidence to prove its veracity. After the British came to East coast they had agreement with Chennappa Naicken, the local ruler in the Chandragiri Fort for establishing their head quarters nay fort near the sea. Thereafter British joined all villages around their Fort, including Purasawalkam Perambur in the north and Saidapet in the South and amalgamated as a city and christened as Madras. But our natives have called our city as Chennapatnam owing aliegance to the local ruler Chennappa Naicken, who is the representative of Vijayanagar Empire. This is the real history of Madras or Chennai.
