People always judge the woman for wanting a green card/money - why do you think he liked her? For her personality, her intelligence, her kindness? Or is it because she's the triple threat that all old men fantasise about: young, hot, and foreign 🤷♀️ In these circumstances it's transactional from both directions.
@honestyisadyingvirtue5 ай бұрын
Well sure but we know it on his side. She will deny it till she's blue in the face and insist it's for love. And frankly he could still love her, the chances of him having ANYTHING she wants besides money is slim to none. He's not even a good looking old man
@genericname87275 ай бұрын
@@honestyisadyingvirtue Often the women who marry these men do so to escape poverty, and I knew one woman from the Phillipines who was sold to an older white man by her family to be married to him as soon as she turned 18 (she was sold before then) and felt she had to stay with him once married since she was Catholic (that woman would be middle aged now and as far as I know is still married to that man). I know a younger Filipino woman who was nearly trafficked by family in the Phillipines too, but thankfully avoided that. I knew a man who was always going on anti-Asian rants, mocking their appearances, calling them slurs, being generally bigoted. Then he went to the Phillipines to get a wife and, after she eventually divorced him (for good reasons and after several years with him), he went back to find another wife. At least those women came to this country and got married by choice though. These creeps don’t get my sympathy, and if women are in positions where they feel desperate enough to date these creeps to escape those conditions then I won’t judge them for it. Especially not when so many aren’t even given a choice. Also, I know exactly how little respect most of these old men have toward the women they marry. The women are often barely people to the creeps. Maybe he developed genuine feelings for her over time, sure, but maybe she developed genuine feelings over time too if he genuinely wasn’t the typical creepy old man. I do know Filipino women in healthy relationships with white men who respect and value them. If not for the massive age gap of the couple in the video I’d not have trouble believing their feelings for one another were genuine tbh.

@devinxoxo83506 ай бұрын
Exactly, these dynamics are inherently predatory, they literally are seeking out much younger women that feel they have little to no prospects in their home country that would be desperate enough to leave and be reliant on them as they likely don’t have friends or family in the areas where they’re moving to be with these older men. These relationships are also ripe for abuse because the women do not know what legal protections they have and can be led to enter arrangements where they are not benefiting purely for the chance of citizenship. They are often too scared to contact the police when abuse does occur because they are afraid of being deported. They are literally trying to trade something they didn’t work for themselves and were born into (citizenship) for free companionship and caretakers as they are so old and then act like the women are entitled and greedy for agreeing so they can have a chance at a better life.

I have seen this a lot in Canada. We get lots of patients who are 80 or 70 or 90 , married to young Filipino women. Many of these women can’t even communicate with their husbands or partners properly because of lack of language or the partner is too old. Filipinos are a massive population here in Canada, they will do anything and everything to get to uk or us or Canada. So many nurses are Filipinos. Some are nice people, majority are materialistic people, focused only on gaining things and materials and money. It’s something to do with the history of that country and how people had to live and survive there.

@Emma-zm7zb Didn't I say some are nice people! I work as a registered nurse and majority of nurses here are Filipinos. I'm speaking from experience with colleagues, patients, neighbors etc. Of course your nannies are going to be nice to you. You pay them. Also, who is talking about niceness here ? I'm talking about how people from there will find ways to survive and come to western countries. There is nothing wrong with that. The poverty and history of that country is what makes people from there yearn for more materialism.
