I loved my original ol man vision. Packs and carries lighter than it weighs. I always used mine with the bar down as a footrest. And the mods for one are unlimited. I added an atv gun holder to each side of mine to hold my rifle. Even took a 2 gun holder and mounted down one side and used just one set of forks and offenses so I could lay it beside me. I swapped the seat for a cushion seat with back pad. With the bar turned up you could sit and face the tree and have a back rest for your bigger guys and small trees. Only bad thing was sliding the seat out for climbing then having to step over seat to slide it back to tree for hunting. I just left it against tree and used my arms to hold me up while I pulled my legs up to climb. I’m looking to buy one today when I find a good deal on one.

The "gun rest" is the MOST critical part of the system . Flip it around and use it as the worlds most comfortable footrest ever made . This stand is not the stand it can be without the footrest installed and if you are not using it you are not taking advantage of the most important part of the stand. Comfort ! USE THE FOOTREST !

I have exact same stand. If I'm not mistaken, the instructions say to not sit on the bar, supposed to slide the net seat back to hold your weight when climbing, then slide it back once you are up. Be careful. Appreciate your videos!

The bar is supposed to be for one real reason . FOOTREST while sitting . If you are not using this footrest you are not using this stand correctly . It is the most important feature of the stand.

Great video, as someone who never used a climbing stand and just picked up this one, this helped a lot. I was surprised how many people thought it was funny when I was trying to learn how to use it today. This video is building my confidence back up.

You can also put the shooting rest upside-down for a foot rest .And the way it's made it your on a crook we tree you can adjust it to where it's level.

The footrest is the most important part.

Hey Clifton! Kinda cool your Top buzzed you and showed support. Great review! I needed a refresher on this stand because I want to try something new, been doing tree lounge and Summit forever. Retired MSARNG with time on my hands. Just saw this Video and gonna check out your other stuff! Thanks for sharing!

I modified my climber with ropes so that instead of having to lift with your fear you can sit in the seat and pull it up with your hands and to me feels a lot more secure and it’s easier on my back

Great job on explaining every little detail on these reviews with no BS. Subscribed. I have one of the older ol man stands. This week I bought the Lone Wolf Hand Climber, but I'm worried about future replacement parts. Right now, their website is no longer active. I am hoping there is some resolution soon or I will have to return it.

I used to hunt out the original straight bar side one. I'm 240 and didn't have an issue. But I didn't climb toothpick trees either. And I prefer to sit facing the tree.

Just finding your channel. I just recently got a new Ol'Man Alumalite CTS after using my previous one for a few years. Honestly, ALL stands have good and bad things about them. I am about your size and the Ol'Man really works well for me. The stability on the tree (Built in teeth really grip tree well) and comfy seat sling really make it easy for me to sit all day. My tip on putting it on the tree. "Put the seat climber on tree first. Move it up about 4-5 feet and then put bottom climber on. Hook them together and then hook ropes (I put bow on one rope and backpack etc. on other) to either side of seat climber." Honestly, ANY stand can look easy or hard to use, it just comes down to repeated use and familiarity with the equipment. Both of these choices are great, but, for my budget and experience, the Ol'Man (now distributed by Millennium, which is an awesome company) is MY best choice.

Just bought this stand, I’ve had the older ol’man stands and they were better and more comfortable. If hadn’t been in a hurry for a new climber I would have built one like the original ol’man grand multivision. I will before next years rut.

I have to agree with you in every single way . They ruined the stand by comparison in many ways . The old ones were better stands.

I have almost the same stand. Mine is the grand vision. The weight limit was like 350 pds on it. Plus i have a ol man Ladder stand. Has foot and rifle rest. Net seat. I think its 18 ft. Wished i had 5 or 6 of them.

The only i dont like is the cable, if the had an inner slide in tube with a blade on it, that may help with the sides folding while you in the tree, but dont know if it fold flat while carrying. I hope that made sense.

a big stick will solve that issue . Wedge the stick between points at the base and you will fix that issue.

Hiya Clifton! You sorta floated to the top a minute ago. As I write it looks like you're staying pretty busy with your super early season hunting. Got something you might find challenging to think about up there in that lonely tree while waiting for something to pop. The thing NOBODY talks about is what happens after the stand fails and you're swinging up there, your boots 18 feet above the rocky earf? I thought I had it licked until this past weekend. I came up with a pretty neat get down system that worked every time it was tested until my son managed to defeat the safety. Grrr! (Well, it's a good thing he beta test jinxed a faulty system.) So it's Plan B time with me. I think I have some idea of how to go, but I just hate to have to do it all over again. I'm old treestand hunter. So, have you given it any thought? What do you do after the fail. Assume you are by yourself and no cell phone service. You have about 20 minutes hang time until your blood pressure starts rising. What do you do? (Admitted, some especially athletic guys can possibly get down with only minor abrasions. But for the rest....)
