Voll makes me cry every time. It's really hard seeing someone's memory go.

Voll hurt my heart so much, even editing the video I started tearing up again during his part of the episode

i rly love the way they animate the memory from Voll. You get the sense that is rly very important for him. Time is a cruel and yet beautiful thing. Without time, we wouldn't value the small things in our life.

That’s very true!! It makes you appreciate the time you do have with your relationships 🥲🥲

I wonder if the reason that Himmel never seemingly really tried to court Frieren is because he found old man Vol’s story so sad that he never wanted to make Frieren go through something similar.
@lindsayroutliffe7 ай бұрын
That would make total sense I had a feeling that whole thing hit Himmel pretty hard and makes me appreciate Himmel even more

Hope y’all enjoyed the reaction! Sorry about the end there luckily I caught myself in editing haha. I’ll answer comments in a bit! Have a good day

Your discussion on if priest magic (divine magic) existed before Flamme the mage was so intriguing. Because I really wonder how old that statue and Kraft are. I haven’t thought about that. Now I’m curious too.

The statue scene is kinda sad for Frieren when you think about it, it reminds her that even with all the statues Himmel will eventually be forgotten.

Kraft also said Frieren is young, makes you actually think how old Kraft is, damn...

Personally I think Kraft is older than the Goddess Scriptures.

IM SO CURIOUS ABOUT KRAFT!! Ah

voll makes me cry so much and I thought I was cried out from frieren at this point. one thing that makes me go crazy this episode is the relationship between kraft and his human companion - he looked like a warrior in the past, but now believes in the goddess and class changed into a monk - was his human companion a priest? kraft is such a mystery and I want more, and it makes me so sad we didn't get to hear his backstory when we first met him. thank you for reacting as always, it really adds to my appreciation of this show.

Yay, Lindsay tears! SO many feels in this episode. It for sure calls for extreme emotions. And I can speak for us all when I say we genuinely love to see it. These are good tears to have and to share. So if you think it's due to night watching, please feel free to watch it more at night. 😉

Oh and also, Fern has a photo of her family. Or she did, I'm not sure if she still does. (Surely though she does, right? Who would get rid of something like that.) We saw it back in episode two during the flashback where Heiter stopped her from jumping off the cliff edge. Photography by magic is such a cool and unique take on it. I adore the concept.

Haha I actually think watching at night made me much more emotional so I will consider doing that sometimes! I wasn’t prepared for all the feelings as well it hit me so hard

I love that Frieren put Himmel on par with Mr. Dwarf Friend's wife. Basically she says I'm also doing this trip for my dead lover, she's also smiling and hers voice softens after remembering his poses.

Sometimes when watching this show, or reading the manga, I am reminded of an old poem (Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came by Robert Browning) which depicts a long and harsh journey by a traveler to the Dark Tower. It was part of the inspiration of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Towards the end, when he gets close enough to see the Tower, he feels all the companions and allies who had travelled with him for a time, and either fell, gave up, lost or split off on another path. Seeing the end of his journey ahead, the traveller called out the names of their boon companions as he was at the first step of the last leg of his journey. Frieren carries the memory of Himmel, Heiter, Eisen, Voll, and so many others on the way, and she wants to see them in Ende.

Everyone seems to describe ppl as heir class, 'I am Kraft the Monk' 'This is Heiter the Priest' etc (and there seem to be character traits associated with the class), which makes me wonder what class Himmel was, or if 'Hero' is its own class
@bmkmymaggots7 ай бұрын
Yes his class is "Hero". But there are two heros in japanese: 勇者 "Yuusha" which is the Standard hero. And then there is "英雄" eiyuu which is the hero of Legends. So yuusha Himmel tries to become an eiyuu by slaying the demon king

It's somewhat historical, before family names were a thing for commoners you would sometimes be referred to by your occupation.

So you mentioned being frustrated with Frieren and Himmel's relationship back in episode 14 (ring episode). I read this in the comments of another video and and it hit the feels really hard. @lewstherintelamon244 "Meeting Old Man Voll is [likely] the reason why Himmel never confessed his feelings to Frieren. He saw the consequences even reciprocal love could have for someone with a greater than human lifespan." There are great (pairs of) episodes in this show like 9 and 10 (among others afer this one). But after reading that comment and rewatching 14 and 16, they're definitely top 3.

Yeah I had a feeling that whole interaction with Voll would hit Himmel super hard but wow that’s so sad and really commendable of Himmel to not want to leave Frieren to be alone 😢😢

voll when talking to himmel and his party didnt describe his wife because he felt it would be an insult to her. he couldnt perfectly articulate her beauty so he kept it to himself. second time with frieren he actually forgot.

Don' worry. Even though the show won't explicitly explain how magic evolved, the story will keep addressing things throughout the rest of the episodes much in the same way it has already been doing it so far, so that you'll be able to piece a rough outline of how things work.
@lindsayroutliffe7 ай бұрын
Awesome! I think seeing Kraft again just makes me sooo curious on how far back his hero journey or quest was and how far back magic goes it seems to be very deep and ahhh I love it
