Sometimes you seem to be making reference to the light direction being depicted on the subject in the painting and some times a referring to how the light falls on the actual physical painting support. Can you clarify for us?

But what if the finished painting is then hung in a room where the light comes from the other side, or some other different direction to that it was in the studio?

I am confused about the angle of the brush stroke to create or reduce light. If I understand correctly in your demo you say the light on the painting is coming from the upper left. How would paint if the light that was going to display the painting came from above? The way I understand is if above and you want more light the stroke is horizontal, if less light it would be vertical. Correct?

When painting impasto in layers, should one follow the fat over lean rule? Would you add a little more medium with each consecutive impasto layer?

I have a tendency to paint realistic even though I don't like . How can I not fell for details?? I'm getting bored of realism now I'm more into works that have loose brush strokes.but I'm not being able to achieve that

Hi, larger brush might help you as it is harder to do details that way and will naturally put you in another mindset
