lol. I love this stuff! I think you should make it a big sled with double tracks and make the whole frame of the sled to hold 12 foot logs. Kind of like the slide at the end but just put a huge motor in it and bigger tracks so you can get a bunch of milling logs out of there without having to make dozens of trips.

Hi Cecil and Heather!!😀😀 That is just about the right amount of snow to start getting your trails broke. Have you ever tried using a short tow strap for skidding the long logs? They act like a big rubber band that really helps to get the load started moving and dosen't bend the hitch like a chain does when you have to jerk the load to get it started moving. I've used them a lot with my wheeler when I'm pulling something that weighs more than the wheeler does. Where the jack pine planted in rows? In that spot it almost looks like it. Great video and thanks for taking us along. Looked to be a nice day for wood work. Machine pulls good especially it seems once the revs are up and clutch’s are in spinning. A lot like my 2-stroke sled cheers and Merry Christmas 🎄

Hi Heather & Cecil. I love this time of year when you get the snow bikes out and have to brake trail. For me it's exciting because i can see that both of you are enjoying it. And this Christmas you have your home to consider, which makes it even more important. You are putting the effort in to get the lumber so that you can mill the wood to start battening your house. this will enclose your home with even more insulation and look great at the same time. Lots of fun! hehe I intend to do some wintertime logging here in Colorado if the local forest service will let me. Probably in February. Plan on using my snowcat for that. I wish we could snowmobile on our land but it's too steep here up on the ridge we live on (SW Wisconsin along the Mississippi River). First time here so I'll have to go back and get to the start of the home build and see how you guys built yours. My son and I built our homestead 10 years ago and I just added onto it last summer (actually just finished the siding a week ago 😉). It's a lot of work but I wouldn't have it any other way! I still don't see you running out of timber by cutting some green trees as well. Not likely that your going to have kids and so no dog, no leaving the land to someone else. Of course the dog comes with "Nuptials" as to who gets to own him and how his toast is buttered. I see tons of dead and or down.... of course this siding is not structural so alls good for woodwise.

if you have a sled and chain saw with gas engines, you're not truly off grid. not yet at least...where's the 3 cans full of gas and oil come from on the sled ? those are pumped out by Big Oil

You're thinking self sufficiency...Not ( off the grid ) , we have no grid utilities coming on to our property. No power grid, no water lines, septic, no natural gas lines. This is what off the grid means. When you look at a map you will not see any grid lines from big oil companies delivering gasoline or oil to our property. You can educate yourself for free you know on these terminologies.
