The nice part of Jinjer is that when you think they are going in the breakdown they will let you wait for it or even retreat from it. And when they finally do the breakdown, they can even hit you harder at the end of it.

Fun reaction. It is about fascists who "do what they have been trained to." They tangled with fascists who threatened violence against some of their concerts and they created this in response. I'd suggest checking out some of their older more metalcore stuff next like Outlander (most popular is the video by Failure .Color, though I also enjoy the official live a lot), Cloud Factory either official or official live, and their even earlier work like Scissors official and Destroy where the Beastarium recording session video has the best sound, though there is also a very raw bootleg from 2011 that has surprisingly good sound though being a bootleg still nowhere near perfect. Cheers!

Jeffrey Fisher Thanks for the story. Last year, I put this on repeat and listened with the lyrics scrolling. I took it as an anti-authority/authoritarian song. I sent it to a friend of mine who’s way more leftist than me and saw what he thought. Metaphors abound in this song, and all of their songs. Without delving into specifics, this song speaks to the state of out country today. At least to me it does.

@@Iamsmallfry I don't know which your country is... I'm in UK and it speaks to me currently, but they fled their home city amidst violence and persecution and moved to the other side of Ukraine, from what I understand, and I do think a LOT of their power comes from first hand experience of the fascists. Daz Trash Thanks for doing music others aren’t. I’m 47 and just wast into much outside of the Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer type of metal from my teenage years. Then last summer I discovered Jinjer via a reaction channel, and they totally changed my mind. They opened me up to a whole new sub genre that I’d previously dismissed as, “that’s not music!” So, I’m going to go through your reactions to punk, because I’ve never understood it, and maybe you can show me where I was wrong all these years. Bands I’d have never listened to before Jinjer (ha ha. BJ & AJ. After Jinjer), but love now? Blind Ivy, monochromatic black, Entheos, Tex Avery Syndrome, and within chaos to name a few. It’s a whole new world to me.

You may prefer older album, Probably Cloud Factory (official music video). I think it is there last album with two guitars and of course différents band members. If you look at the new stuff, "Pit of consiousness like at Kiev" is very good. The only critic I ear about this song is for the clean vocal. Tatiana write the lirics and choose how to sing (clean, belt, growl, scream, etc.). When she choose the clean on this song, it is on purpuse.

@@StickDastardly my pleasure. If you chose Cloud Factory, pick the official music video (and not the live). If "Bastille day" by Rush (close to 50 years old song) is not familiar to you, just listen before (no reaction needed) and you will be amazed how much some clean high pitch by Tatiana are simular to Geddy Lee. But I dont think the band ever ear or know anything about Rush (but I may be wrong, they are curious about many things).

Never was a huge fan of death metal or the growly stuff. Jinjer immediately changed that. Maybe it's a female voice going low, plus the clean beautiful vocals on top. But the musicians, both past and present, are on point. I think the new drummer tied things together when he came in. He tends to follow the vocal rather than the guitars. Later songs you notice a bit more technically proficient.
@vasettoo3 жыл бұрын
It's funny you mentioned black metal vibes with Roman's picking but here's the revelation - SSRO was written by their former drummer and present mixing engineer Dmitry Kim who had been playing in a black metal band prior joining Jinjer, replacing Eugene Mantulin after suffering his back injury. With some people we tell them to avoid this song for a while, we ease them in with baby steps. If they like her pop vocals and belting they go one way, if they are uneasy with the harsh vocals we point them to mellower songs etc. You came out of the gate liking the hard hitting parts and the intensity so we encouraged the deep end. One reactor did Pisces first then this song second... well it was his last Jinjer reaction. As I read the title I could smell the fear. Their style has changed over time as others have said. You might like some old stuff also. There are a couple of real old songs with the Original male vocalist that are brutal. (Destroy and Abbyss) Tati also did destroy for a comparison. The most punk like song in my opinion is a song all in Russian. I want It, I'll Get It. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imm0fZ13hbqqo6c

In my mind, this song is about the rise (and hopefully fall) of the 'new right' - bloodlusty dogs (with right paws upraised) let loose by their handlers to suppress "otherness" and glorify 'the one past, path and trust'. It's from 2015 (I think) and in an interview this was mentioned: "what I feel and think about the things happening in our society and country, here in Ukraine". I absolutely adore the final part about "them" having "fressed themselves" (Fressen is 'to devour' in german - and more poignantly: yiddish).

Yeah, try finding a horrorpunk drummer in Georgia. Lol. There are drums, but they're programmed. Got them sounding as realistic as I could but I'm no engineer

You may enjoy the audio cut of "Home Back" due to it's hardness and interesting transitions. Also, I think the lyrics for this one (Sit Stay Rollover) describe the nature of the relationship between Ukraine and Mother Russia. If you can guess, the relationship isn't good.

Thanks for the info! I had a few people point that out during the premier. I'm afraid it's something we're very close to relating to in the US and, socially, something I've been able to relate to my whole life. I'm sorry for those who've been facing worse and for longer

@@StickDastardly that is thing with many of Jinjer's lyrics. They tend to be about injustice and inequality as it relates to governments, environmental issues, religion, and any educational institutions. None of their lyrics are frivolous. Thanks for giving these guys a shot on your channel. I'm glad you are enjoying them. They tend to attract people from across multiple genres.

I will admit, I've never heard this song before, bc I never dug too much into Cloud Factory, and only got into Jinjer sometime between KoE and Micro, and it slaps. Now, we've got him in the Jinjer rabbit hole, who wants to throw him into Devy? Better question: how should we? Kingdom on EMGTV, or Deadhead at Royal Albert Hall?
@StickDastardly3 жыл бұрын
A few years too late on Devy! I wish I'd never heard his work before so I could give honest reactions. Fun fact! My worst mosh injury was during Strapping Young Lad's set at Sounds Of The Underground in 2006. Dislocated one knee and scraped the other to the bone. EMTs tried to send me to ER but I refused to leave because GWAR hadn't played yet

I've been listening to Black Flag and GG since I was a kid, so I wouldn't be able to provide a fresh take unfortunately. Gonna be checking out other stuff from back then that I either haven't listened to in ages or never gave a chance to see how my tastes have grown

There's a chance the audio got out of sync in one of my cuts that I missed. I remember having some issues with balancing the levels in this one and had to separate the audio to fix it, which made cutting more tedious. I always watch before and after I upload, just in case something goes wrong in rendering or during the upload itself, but forgot to check if the audio was synced all the way through, sense I seldom have to mix it separately
