Yeah, a lot of people think she's just talking specifically religious schools, but she's said in interviews that it's just about authority and indoctrination in general. Has a lot of themes in common with Who's Gonna Be The One.
@themorrigan1312
@themorrigan1312 3 жыл бұрын
I've actually heard in another interview, I think it was one with Loudwire, that the song was about celebrities abusing their influence, specifically, not overall authority and indoctrination. Makes sense either way though, plus Tati has said that she appreciates and enjoys other people's interpretations of the lyrics, so while there is a correct answer as to what they mean to her and/or whatever other members had a hand in the writing, there is no one correct way to perceive the song.

That makes a lot of sense, too! It's kind of the same thing, really. Abusing your power of persuasion for personal gain, convenience, political power, it's all corruption and done in the same ways. Thanks so much for the insight!

Right on with the indoctrination take man!! Tatiana writes some dope ass lyrics if you take the time to go through them. Fast becoming one of my favorite reactors!! I can’t believe how tight this band is live so I hope you pick on of the live performances from Kiev either “on the top” or “pit of consciousness” both are great live videos. Or you can go a bit older and do “captain clock” live from resurrection fest. Love all of these!!!

Chapeau, Daz! You got the lyrics immediately while most others try to pass with "oh, poor she, bad experience in Catholic school" or similar nonsense. She's never gone to any kind of religious school (and there were none in post-soviet Donbass; not to mention the complete absence of Catholic church in Eastern Ukraine). She is definitely one of my favourite metal-lyricists, though to hit Martin Walkyier's mark is pretty hard. Cheers!

And another great reaction, thank you. Now I can see more clearly your preferences and I think you will not be disappointed in some old Jinjer stuff. I'd suggest "No hoard of value". Official 2013 clip with lyrics is really great. In musical sence it's awesome and it's different from the new stuff in some points (the band had a partly different line-up at the time). But it still has Tatiana's vocal and her lyrics, one of the deepest at my opinion.

You are one of the few reactors who look at the lyrics, bravo! When you find time, next could be Pit of consiousness at Kiev live. I suppose you dont need motivation when you play in front of your cocityzen (Tati lives at Kiev) and I think it is evident in this performance. And again, from their older stuff, Cloud Factory (official video). The band has changed but it is still a very good video. You feel here too a kind of revolt.

Fun reaction. This is one of their most popular songs, and I love this performance. They are definitely a team. Tati is so much the focus on stage, but everything they do is as a unit. I'd estimate that at least 2/3 of their songs have a political, environmental, and/or social theme. Outlander is a great older song for its sense of independence and antipathy to mass culture, with the video uploaded by Failure .Color (live video, studio recording though) being by far the most popular. The official live has some stuff going on that some people find cringy with someone from another band working on their drum kit as they perform, and there is a fan that comes on stage, but I find Tatiana's handling of it says a lot about her personality which I like. Judgement & Punishment is newer and could imo have been written about rural America, though their statements about the theme are more about the general dynamic of judgemental attitudes biting one back - either the live in Melbourne or one-take vocal videos are both great, while I find the official video distracting, but ymmv. Also, the lyrics video they did for No Hoard Of Value is incredibly powerful, which is another older song. Cheers!

Another great reaction! The best reaction to this song out of the dozens that I have watched. Your analysis was the most thoughtful. I like how you dove into the lyrics. I also liked how you talked about their stage presence. I think you should do a double reaction, and watch the official video. They presented the song a little bit differently. It's a compilation of two live performances with some post production involved. The videography is amazing. You can hear the bass better as well. One of my all-time favorite Jinjer baselines.

Very intelligent analysis of the lyrics, but from your previous reactions, I shouldn't be surprised by that. I agree the blast beats were perfectly placed, but something many miss the first time through are the pauses. There are two moments where the band goes completely silent for just a second, and both are perfectly placed to ramp up the tension. Since you brought up the blast beats, you should check out Retrospection. Roman and Eugene do something interesting during the blast beats for that song. Unfortunately, all the live recordings I've seen of Retrospection are a bit to very muddy, so you might want to watch the official.
