My Mom taught me to make banana pudding from scratch and once I surpassed hers in taste, she handed me the "baton"! Now, I'M the one everyone comes to for banana pudding! I add a couple of extra touches, Chef. I double my cookies and I make a meringue to go on top. Pop it in the oven to brown the fluffed tips just a bit and it's definitely heaven on earth!

I grew up eating banana pudding like yours, but as an adult started making it with those instant pudding packs to save time. But in doing so, it definitely didn’t taste the same. Watching your video has encouraged me to go back to my roots. This year for Thanksgiving I will definitely use your recipe and “be fancy” with it too…as always, thanks Chef! Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving holiday! ☺️

My family always made banana pudding with the vanilla instant packs. I'm definitely going to practice learning how to make it this way...the egg tempering is going to take some practice, but I'll get the hang of it!
@stephaniewilliams3791
@stephaniewilliams3791 8 ай бұрын
you dont have to temper your eggs. you can put them in with the sugar, eggs, flour and start with a low heat and stir, stir, stir gradually increasing your heat. That way the eggs dont cook either

Bananna pudding is my favorite, I will try this way which is similar to mine. I just use the egg yolk with vanilla flavor only with a little bit of lemon juice and I use a double boiler......I agree only use Nabisco vanilla wafers it does make a difference and you can taste the difference when using other brands

😂😂chef, I wash my hands once a day too. All the way live with the nana pudding. My mother made these often, even with the meringue. Of course I never cared for the meringue. After a while she stopped adding the meringue. Oh, yes make sure u get the good rafters, cause off brand not the same. I've used chess squares by Pepperidge farm I think that's the brand name, forgot, but they are pretty good on ur banana pudding. My mother taught my brother how to make one & can make a good one. His wife says she can't make one, so he does it. TYFS. Be blessed. 🍌🥄❤

I noticed in the older videos, only vanilla extract was used, now both vanilla extract and banana extract is used. Most of the recipes i seen only use vanilla, but i think that without banana extract, its not really banana pudding. Its only vanilla pudding with bananas. Also, i seen recipes where homemade whip cream is made, and mixed into the pudding for thickness and then the rest is spread on top. I never made it before, but i want to try it. Problem is I can't find banana extract

Ashamed to say I can eat a whole banana pudding myself too😂 Welp... might as well go ahead and subscribe since you mentioned buttermilk pie (I'm sure it's on your playlist somewhere). Question: My mom used to cook a cake frosting on the stove. It was glossy and lhad the consistency marshmallow fluff when she was done. I don't suppose you know what that's called and have a recipe for that as well? 🤞

I use flour instead of corn starch and to really make it an old fashioned/old school banana pudding it has to be cooked a second time once it is all put together in a pan. And it also has to have meringue put on top to be old fashioned.

Agreed that the pudding is best cold. It'll settle better chilled overnight. For presentation, the top can be layered with whipped cream and more bananas and cookies. A mountain-like peaked bowl can give visual impact to guests. If my dad made this or a pie, of course he would put on a pot of coffee.
