Thank you dearly for this recipe. No instant or chemical laden packages of so called pudding involved. This is the real deal & I appreciate your sharing this so very much. I took this recipe for granted until everyone that made this from scratch has left us. Glad I held out until someone remembered & is willing to share this classic, iconic recipe. Perfect. Nothing else compares.

I came back to write down the recipe and realized that the written recipe has the butter put in with the milk at the beginning, but in the video, the butter doesn't go in until the end. I do love how comfortable and matter-of-fact you are with the process and the ingredients. Tempering eggs is usually something most chefs make out to be difficult and a big deal. You just busted that myth. Good for you!

❤ 😂 Hey Chief Jeffery!!! I just did this banana pudding in my same pan as yours. I don’t know if I did something wrong because my pudding didn’t thicken like yours. Maybe I should have heaped the tablespoons instead of leveling them? That’s the baker in me. I sure hope it thickens at least like yours. I’m nervous, but it smells great! 😅

Chef, I’ve watched your other Banana Pudding recipes, and this one is exactly the way my mom did it. She built the dish while the pudding was yet warm. Sunday morning before church she made this, left it sitting on top of the stove, after church we ate dinner and then we would demolish that Banana Pudding. 🙂

Thank you for this. My grandmother used to make this when I was a child, but by the time I was old enough to make it, she had died. I knew the ingredients, but not the amounts. As soon as I can get to the grocery store, I'm going to make this! Appreciate what you do!

I just found your channel. I am just blown away. I love the way you cook. I was not interested in the kitchen when my mom was cooking. I got bored. I remember her telling me steps but was not watching . Later in life, I wished I was paying attention. Thank you for your walk down memory lane. I made your dressing and giblet gravy for thanksgiving . It was delicious. Its really old school soul food and so easy.

Good evening Chef Jeffrey, I just made my first banana pudding using your old school recipe, and I have to tell it, I almost bit my own hand off just eating the pudding alone. I had some leftover after putting the bananas and cookies in the pan with the pudding and since I didn’t have the patience to wait for the whole dessert to chill I just ate the leftover pudding and almost took off a finger. Lord have mercy, I was like a kid in the candy store. 😂 Love, love, love this recipe and all your others. Thank you soo much 🙏🏾 for sharing. Happy Belated Thanksgiving 🦃 🍁
