It's so amazing how you were way ahead of the console modding times back in the early 2000's finding ways to boot up backups! Ppl wouldve been lucky to know you back in those days and you would be able to show them how to modify their ps2s' using your methods, I had to wait basically til the late 2010s' to discover how I could make this possible without mod chips! props to you man, love your video on this!

I used action replay for two years or so then had my console chipped at the local service shop. I am from Europe and most games I wanted were not available at the shops, from other regions etc or too expensive so the alternative was downloading them from hack forums. The chip was a life savior.

It's been decades, but do you remember seeing a device in back of one of the gaming mags back then...device that plugged in between the ps1 parallel port and the PAR/GS? I know the parallel port on back of PAR/GS could be used(utilizing a cord or device with cord) to connect t the ps1 to a PC and check hex/memory values...but I specifically remember a device in an old gaming mag from the late late 90s, that connected between the ps1 parallel port and the PAR/GS port that normally plugs into back of ps1. It was a weird shape and kindof a babycrap green or mcnasty yellow in color😂... Do you remember seeing this at all? If so what's the name? I actually still have 2 huge boxes of game mags from back then...playstation mag, PC gamer, Nintendo power...probably 100 mags total in boxes in storage. I need to dig them out and take a trip down memory lane while searching the back pages for this device. Hoping someone out there will see this and know what it was called...

I tried gameshark version 5 and the disc wouldn't stop spinning for some unknown reason even though japanese cheat codes work on it through emulation,it only stops when the lid opens without a spring. Then tried it on a gameshark version 4.11a the one that has "country of origin england" on the disc and that worked perfectly fine as it would stop by itself after loading but you need a spring for a japanese game to work. I once read a comment that said you don't need a spring but you do.

CDR is not has heavy as a regular Game disk. I would hot glue a penny in a balance point so the disk would be heavier while spinning. I used sticky tape at first and well... it would fly off after heating up. I never thought about turning it side ways, witch would make sense seeing as it has to spin against gravity, But that over heats after long periods of game play.
@Lando00100 Жыл бұрын
@Bierhoff late on the reply A vertical spinning disk has to fight against gravity and puts more stress on the drive. I used coins to make the disk spin faster witch turning it side ways does the same thing if I understand this video correctly. Vertical spinning drive definitely puts more strain on the console but I shouldn't have said overheat.
