Parents had one of these when I was a kid. It was my job to fill that tank with kerosene! I don’t remember any smell from it at all, but man don’t keep the doors closed and spend a long time in the same room as it. The carbon monoxide levels used to make us so sleepy- lucky we didn’t die in retrospect. Fine for a whole house or to heat a level- just don’t box yourself up into the same room

I bought this same model 20 or more years ago. I only use it in power outages, maybe every other year. It’s a champ. I don’t use fresh kerosene. It’s a couple of years old, burns great. Changed the wick one time after getting some bad kero. Not fun but doable.

@lundriganoutdoors8687

Yes. It has an adjustment nob that allows you to control the heat output. Basically it allows you to control how much wick is burning wich raises or lowers the heat output.

I have one I just got back working after maybe 12 year or so! Anybody tells you it is easy to replace a wick in these heaters can kiss my posterior! I tried and tried and tried for years! Finally I bought a wick this year and got it to work! I watched youtube videos and they were little help in this case! I have a Dyna Glo! I don't know what I was doing wrong but finally I got it! It looks rough and it is 20 years old but it works great! These heaters last and last...recommend them for emergency...everybody needs a kerosene heater and especially the kind you can cook on since if no power with a kero heater you have some heat...a way to cook food and some little bit of light! I'm ready! Are you?

Don't use diesel fuel. Not designed for diesel. I tried it. Big mistake. Can't stay lit. Poor flame. Summer diesel I used. Flushed it out with kerosene and it would only stay lit with the cover off. Smoke, yes but I'm burning my poor judgment away outdoors in the summer. Right now actually 35 C today. With that crap concoction it's staying lit, glass globe off, with a nice breeze. Can I just poor all that crap down the drain? Yes but I can't bring myself to doing that so I'll burn it all off and lesson learned. They are great heaters if used properly I have to add. Just don't use alternate fuels.

@@lundriganoutdoors8687 My advice is to stick to the fuel it was made for. Maybe diesel needs a bit more air. I don't know. Didn't work at all for me. Now I'm paying the price. My knowledge is not sacred but pass it on. Lol. Don't recommend using cheaper diesel in your kerosene heater. Fail.

Yea it is expensive here as well. Pretty efficient though I have found. Its our plan to heat a section of our house through a black-out. We are up to a week now as far as fuel storage goes. That would cover most recoverable emergencies.

Can you find kerosene at the pump? It is about half the price of the packeged fuel that you buy at the store. I buy mine at SPEEDWAY, Just take my container from teh stove. It hold 1 gallon.
@J_Trask
@J_Trask 2 жыл бұрын
The smaller 10,000 btu kero heaters burn at a slower rate compared to the big 24k btu units. If you buy two 5-gal containers, you’ll be able to heat for about a week with no electricity. It’s an investment that you can keep on-hand that will be there when you finally need it. It’s also a good idea to keep plenty of bottled water and non-perishable food in rotation so that you’ve got something to keep you from depending on others to take care of you during an emergency.

That's awfully expensive for kerosene. Just by at the pump for $3 more or less per gallon. I usually go by 9 gallons for about 35 bucks. That's an absolutely beautiful heater though I would love to have some older model like that. Hard to find those nowadays in my area northern New York.

The instruction manuals from my multiple units say that pump kerosene is a different grade from 1-K, which is the only fuel that should be used to prevent operational/wick issues.
