During the 1970's gasoline shortages , these old ,, then new ,, used station wagons could be bought cheap for their muscle engines. I helped pull a few 409's, 401's, 429's , 440's , 454's , 427's and 460's out of the wagons so friends could drop them in a Nova , a Dart , a Falcon , a Valiant ,a Rambler, a Vega or a Maverick etc.. I miss those affordable hotrod days of the 1970' s and early 80's !

I spent about 30 yrs , Buick Dealer, service dept wise, from service advisor to management, from the early 60's and up. I remember the "glass panels top" on the Skylark Wagons, the original, esp early production vehicles, had the "TITANIC" effect. They weren't water tight! We had a retired couple that were driving to Florida for the winter season. As I remember, there were clothes hooks, in the rear, factory headliner mounted, to hang what ever, like clothes, if I remember correctly, there was also available an accessory bar that could be mounted from side to side. This vehicle was an early production vehicle. So, not too long after they bought this car, they loaded up, clothes wise, and left for Florida. On Their way to Florida, they ran into a "few" torrential rain events, like what's currently happening now, there were many items that were ruined by the Glass Panels weatherstrips not being watertight. GM, Buick, reimbursed the owner. (Goodwill Policy Adjustment) Eventually the above problem was corrected by redesigning the weatherstrips and other Buick Technical Service Bulletin Procedures. BTW, I can't remember ever seeing a Buick "GS 400" Skylark Station Wagon, as shown on the private property segment. (However, I did buy a "GS 400" , 2 Door SEDAN, Model 4607, Had a "B" Pillar, 4 SPD Manual Trans, Positraction, NO A/C or P/S.) I WISH I HAD THAT CAR NOW!! 😓 OH WELL, .........

Thanks for posting for us all to enjoy. Station wagons are bad ass , even non classic wagons are cooler than their sedan and coupe siblings. I'm a chevy man but have 2 magnum wagons that I'm in LOVE with. My first wagon I had was a 68 Toyota Corona wagon when I was 19 (my second vehicle I owned ,I still have my first one she's a 60s chevy g10 scooby van) but the cruising blue 61 chevy was the coolest one in the video. Too bad too many people even to this day cut up wagons a d sedans for parts for their coupe siblings and killed the most, then glass house clamshell gm wagons were all used as indestructible demo cars and people stopped buying wagons and started buying vans and suvs then hideous cuv's or what they call crossovers I call crap. I'm a 3rd Gen Camaro lover but I love my long roofs ,I also have my mid engined 60s chevy scooby van ,2 magnum wagons, and 4 burbans (99,03,07 and 2010) I wish they still sold my sexy magnum wagons

I know that it wasn't like these, but I have always loved the Station Wagons!!! I've owned a 1999 Dodge Ram High Top Conversion Van and a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan during my life!
