Dr. Margus, I thank you Sir for posting this. It brings back so many memories to this Ol' Devil Dog. Active duty from '82 to '92, my tour of combat was in SWA. It brought a smile too my face, and a tear to my eyes. yeolseadog.

Parris Island 1968, the cadence had a flow to it. What I hear today does nothing for me. My DI's all sang just like this recording and man we were proud! Here's one, "Left my wife in New Orleans, with 26 kid's and a can of beans, sound off one, two, sound off three four. One two three four. Then DI gets back to left, right, left with a sweet melody. God, I miss that!

I was told recently that they no longer sing (marching) cadence in the USMC. Only Running cadences. The reason stated was that when marching, “you March at the position of attention.” And so the only person speaking is the person marching the formation. Anyone know if this is true ????
@catstheslayer85052 жыл бұрын
Yes, I don’t think they’ve done it for atleast 10-15 years we did it when I was there with some very very rare occasions and it was more just some phrases we would say after they said a command word or phrase. Nothing like this.
