I saw pictures online of a few custom, probably 3d printed connector pieces that allowed 2011 Generations Scourge, the stealth bomber one, to be used as the limbs. They also appeared to allow posing. These were posted years before I began collecting, so I had no hope of tracking them down. Just stuck 2 Dreadwind & 2 Blackwing on instead & imagined. Lol

I use Dreadwind and Darkwing for arms and Brake Neck and Off-road as legs. And Viper as a gun. Since Wildrider and Brake Neck are seperate characters in earth wars. I’d say it’s only worth it for that combination

By the way those of you who want to make the combined mode hips work better can just rotate the arms 90° so the panels are facing outwards. Fixed all my issues with leg posing.

I think the issue with the legs of the new one is that the shape of the leg frame looks like nothing's supposed to stick to the back (hence why Air Raid sticks so far back) while the front is suspiciously recessed when it shouldn't be according to the thing it's supposed to be accurate to...as if something is supposed to go there. Compare Menasor's legs, where the back of the legs actually look like the cars are supposed to dock there, while the front looks fully solid. My hope is that it's actually designed as an option for those who want the jets to be in front. I hope I'm right, coz otherwise, the legs will the most baffling design choice.

Cyclonus is my favorite Transformer so I bought this guy almost out of obligation and ..its almost depressing. He's just so rickety and hallow. The comparison between this one and the Kingdom one is astounding and they weren't that far off from each other

Cyclonus was the first torso bot I got out of CW, he was amazing to my then kid eyes. It's thanks to this toy, that I got into combiners...so thanks CW Cyclonus.

I love the idea of Cyclonus being so loyal that he would allow Galvatron’s spirit to reside within himself, giving up his own sentience for the sake of Galvatron returning in the combined form of Galvatronus. Also Cyclonus’s head without defining the bunny ears makes the me think of a Bishop’s hat->religious devotion->self sacrifice->return of Galvatron

I remember going into ToysRus and seeing this guy like 7 or 8 years ago and nagging my mum to get it (I never heard of the character, but purple is my favourite colour) but he was like $35. So I just waited and the store expanded and when they did, I went to the Transformers section and saw him for around $12. Is he the best figure in the world, especially by today's standards? No. But did he bring me a load of joy and happiness over the years. Absolutely.

I have the G2 superion and it’s probably one of the best CW combiners torso as it’s stable it doesn’t have the tabbing issue or odd leaning issues of Bruticus/defensor and it’s miles ahead of menasor. It was redone into computron and the Takara grand galvatron box sets which are a bit better as there’s different deluxe molds instead

I own Betatron which is the same torso mold as Silverbolt and Cyclonus and the issue with the connection point is real. The springs still function but they get stuck and don't close unless you pull them down and even then, the connection isn't solid

It's an effort alright, but those legs, yikes. It's a good attempt at a CHUG Cyclonus, and I really want the Kingdom release. At this point I'm just waiting for the inevitable 86 release. Experiencing him only as Metal Hawk, I adore the mold in how fun, chunky, and properly articulated he is. Not rushing out to get the AOTPs Silverbolt, but from what I can see looks like a decent update, and decent combined mode despite how thick the back of the legs are.

i alwasy find it funny, when reviewers complain of their qc on a certain toy, and mine are just fine with not problems at all. I have this cyclonus, that I adore... and i have transformed him countless times since it was released .Combined SO MANY TIMES, AND IT HOLDS PERFECTLY FINE SPECIALLY ON E LEGS. And still as tight as today ... sounds weird, but you get the point. My cyclonus fins are just fine. And if you have no imagination to pose this toys, that is another conversation. I don't agree him being hard to pose.

New Silverbolt. Combiner Wars is showing its age. I do prefer the IDW aesthetic, but I actually like to - you know - POSE my Transformers. Plus the CW combiners' arms are too long and the legs are too short. Give me a combiner frame any day over same ol' reused molds, unstable legs and feet, and cheap plastic.

Ok so I personally don’t really like the direction hasbro is going with combiners. Sure I’ll admit they look great, they’re accurate and they’re stable. But they had to sacrifice its main gimmick of being a combiner by basically having all of the other bot be armor. I don’t really like combiner wars that much either, I think that it suffered from its constant reuse of molds and I mostly blame all of that on the budget cuts. I feel like if we combined aspects from both combiner wars and the new system it could be so much better. Hell I’m not even saying we should have it be like scramble city, I’m fine with the limbs not being able to mix match, I’m just saying that maybe we should do something like predaking which imo is the best non 3rd party combiner

I think you just had bad luck with your silverbolt and cyclonus, I've had my CW Silverbolt for years and all the joints are still nice and tight, and thats the first time I've seen the combine mode legs come undone like that.

The combiner wars bots absolutely had their problems but… No, I probably won't be getting the new ones. I really, really don't like the cartoon look or the massive skeleton. At that point you don't even have five robots combining into one. You have one robot that you stick five others to. Like a powermaster times five. But I'm glad the people who like the cartoon finally get versions they like! Also my wallet is happy… Or you know, it would be if I wasn't just going to spend the money on third party bullshit instead.

I own CW Superion and while the Silverbolt mold has a lot of wonky-ness, the team accomplishes the primary goal of a combiner: having both the torso and the limb bots be integral. AotP Superion is disgusting because absolutely none of the bots are actually important to the "combined" figure. Silverbolt slots into the back to be forgotten, the arm bots are the minority of the arms' actual bulk and the leg bots just get slapped on the calves with less integration than Siege weaponiser parts. Legacy Menasor at least has the excuse of being an adaptation of one of G1's worst animation models; AotP Superion doesn't. Being fine with combiner skeletons isn't an automatic problem because they can be done acceptably like with Iron Factory Liokaiser. Liking how AotP Superion looks isn't an automatic problem. Calling it better than the admittedly naff CW Superion, however, is just an insult to the very concept of the combiner play pattern.

Ill be honest, cw has its flaws but i still prefer it over the new one, its pure g1, cool thats an option for people who want that but it just looks boring to me Also i do not like the new system at all, 90% of the combiner is the extra assembly and you just put on it, you cant even see the leg guys because there on the back and its just boring panels on the front that apparently you cant rotate to show the actual bot. Im sorry, i get what there going for but the new ones just dont feel like combiners to me, it doesn’t help that half the team for the stunticons feel more compromised than the cw ones despite doing less for the combination and if slingshot is anything to go by the airalbots will probably be the same. Im sorry if being too negative, it just feels it suck to be anything other than a g1 fan in recent years, at least armada fans are getting stuff
