To offset the all the general shittyness, I just want to leave a good story. I'm severely depressed and was suicidal for a long while, mostly because of the severe level of bullying. My few friends at the time introduced me to Hetalia by having half-coded conversations they left me out of and mocking me by saying it was "too intense for me". So I went home and watched the first four (and only, at the time) seasons of Hetalia out of spite. Weirdly enough, that fandom gave me a place to express myself, and post art. I was good at writing, and my fanfictions got me a few friends. We'd proofread each other's fanfiction, and even if something was complete shit, there was always somewhere there to encourage me to improve. Eventually, I branched out into other fandoms, and began developing my own works. Those interests actually earned me a supportive, decent friend group I still have to this day. So, in a weird sort of way, the Hetalia fandom saved my life. There was always the weird parts, of course. But in the end, if I hadn't gone through that fandom and learned to be confident with who I was, I would have killed myself a long time ago. My little sister is turning twelve in a week, and I'm finally showing her the anime that changed my life. She loves it, and I don't think she'll ever understand how much that means to me. So... Thank you, Hetalia fandom.

OH MY GOD. I was the same too! if not because of osomatsu san, i shouldve killed myself at jan 13. then i heard about the movie and decided to wait till it airs. If I havent waited i wouldnt actually realize that there are actually people who cares about me. osomatsu san made me feel like i was with them, and everytime i rewatch an episode my smile just returns. it feels almost like i was with them, and they always comforted me. btw, I also LOVE the hetalia fandom! :)

Thank you for being a non toxic channel that I can enjoy bad fandom stories from. I appreciate it. I remember when Final Fantasy VII was super popular and talked about all of the time. My story is a minor one, but is amusing somewhat. I remember this one student in my class who hated Sephiroth with a passion. Why? Because he killed Tseng who was a bit of an asshole in the first place . This kid also critiqued people for even remotely liking the Sephiroth character. Luckily, he never did anything extreme or violent, but I know several teased him by saying they liked Sephiroth to get him to go bonkers.

It really depends on the person. I personally kept seeing the ugly side of the kpop fandom which is why I've pretty much left it, while my friend says she hasn't really seen any bad stuff. Probably because she would only seek out the good of the fandom. But I kept coming across the fan wars and immature, overly obsessed fans that tired me out and eventually made me dislike being in the fandom.

I really appreciate you trying to reassure viewers that the majority of fans are good and decent people and that the extreme cases are the minority. You are completely right on that, but as far the first story goes, Osomatsu-san's fandom really does have a surplus of incest shipping. They don't make make up the entirety of the fan base, sure, but they do make up a slight majority. My theory as to why there is a higher concentration for this show in particular is because the titular characters are all male, and some people don't seem to enjoy media without romance. There are far more people who like male gay couples but refuse to cross the boundary into pedophilia or incest territory than those who are willing to, certainly. I will happily support and defend them. But those who don't have those moral qualms end up flocking to Osomatsu-san, where they are among friends. It's a shame because it is such a wacky and enjoyable comedy.

I agree with your theory. It is sad Osomatsu is definitely one of my favorite animes. I simply just liked it because the art style and comedy skits. But tbh I knew the fandom was going to be shit as soon as I saw oso’s face lol. That Undertale one made me cry it was so heartbreaking and beautiful, I've also had similar experiences as the people in the Hetalia and Attack on Titan stories I was forgotten about once my Hetalia friend got into the Portal games and when my other group of friends got into Steven Universe I always felt so left out during lunch when they would talk about it so much that sometimes I ate lunch early and went to the library instead and was attacked by someone for not loving a certain ship at the time in the Les Miserables fandom and accused of being a homophobe when I myself had friends online that were lgbt and was a very supportive and vocal lgbt ally and the person even went as far as to say that I hated them for being a lesbian and said that they should die when in reality it was just them making stuff up to make people turn on me

This is really hard to listen to. I know you're not going to use the actual names of the people involved, but PLEASE use fake names if you do another one of these. Having named characters in these stories rather than "the protagonist", "the couple" and "their friend" will make things so much easier to understand, especially at the quick pace you speak.

Here's a story showing the better side of fandoms (It's the Sleepykinq fandom): I have a best friend who I met through a fandom. I found them through a really good story they wrote. After checking out their profile, I found out they had a Tumblr too. I told myself "Hey, why not check it out, it may be cool." So I did, and I found out they had a KZbin channel too! I really liked their writing and their art, so I went to their channel. I had been trying to give them support because I enjoyed their creations and hoped to see more, and boy, I'm glad I did. They thanked me a lot for the support and told me how much it meant to them, and it made me feel really good knowing I had made their day. They soon asked to become friends, and I gladly accepted. We both enjoyed a lot of the same things and they were so friendly and I enjoyed their company, because unlike most of my other friends, I didn't feel like I was being forced to talk to them. Hearing these stories makes me that much more grateful that I've never seen much of the toxic side of the Oso-San and Hetalia fandoms- I've only heard of the drama, but the people I know are so nice and sweet, it really blows my mind knowing creeps like Todokaras can just appear and make a mess you know?
