"original" superman.... he's literally holding the multiverse together and when immortal superman outlives his well.... pretty much everything living he finds this Orignial Superman and asks who he is.... he explains that he is the 1 true superman and that all others across the multiverse are just inferior copies because each universes needs a superman, he then explains a tragic back story of how it all came to be and why he's in the predicament he's in. It was basicly a way for DC to cement every variant of Superman as canon. (Yes every single variant is canon)

I love the design of his build, too. He looks like he doesn't take any grucc from anyone. Also, the completely distinct change in art-style between the two is really neat to see, with the new-earth Supes having harder lines and brighter contrasts, while the older Superman has softer lines and more of a desaturated look. To be totally fair it makes sense for Superman. (full nerd mode) Superman’s main ability is Biokinetic aura. It’s basically a forcefield that covers him at skin level. It’s why he can eat planetary explosions and not have his clothes damaged and how he can fly. It ALSO applies to whatever he touches, which is why he can fly Batman at lightspeed around the world without turning him to paste, and also how he can pick up like a cruise ship with one hand and not have the weight all collapse on one point. What he touches will essentially be protected. So by slamming a guy into concrete and statues Superman COULD technically extend his aura when he touched the statue/what not giving it extreme Superman like durability. Conner Kent (Superboy) actually can use that ability at range. All Kryptonians have it and are used to it and can’t really control it. But since Conner is half human (Luthor) he can feel the aura and manipulate it to effect things at range. He called it ‘tactical telekinesis’ and would never shut up about it when he was in Young Justice.

Simple. Hercules is just Hercules. Shazam is an acronym He gets his power from S-Solomon H-Hercules A-Atlas Z-Zeus A-Achilles M-Mercury To put that in context he has the strength of Hercules AND Atlas augmented by the power of Zeus. Superman benchpressed the weight of the world for a week and finally broke a sweat. Hercules did roughly the same, but Atlas has done it for thousands of years. Add the power of the king of the gods and do you still have to ask why Captain Marvel is a tougher fight than Hercules?

For those wondering: Superman does age. But it takes an incredibly, incredibly long time. His skin may look aged but his body has been absorbing yellow sun energy for all those years. This means the force field around Superman’s skin is massively increased as well as his ability to control the gravity around his body.
