@Torsion6 ай бұрын
@@sammiller8640Superman is easy to despise because he doesn't struggle as much as humanity. He's nourished by the sun, so, he's never been hungry. He eats human food because it makes mental sense to him, but not because he has to. He's never had any addictions, bad decisions, or mistakes. Any that he does have are single-issue and have never really become part of his canon. When he is written well, though, it's easy to forget all of that because the reader is able to relate to how the citizens of DC-Earth see Superman. He's still that boy in Smallville who is trying to be the person his parents thought he could be. Even if your parents weren't good people, most of us have SOMEONE who believes we will do great things. For some, it IS Superman... That's why good writing of Superman has him being less super and more "the boy [his] *parents* raised."

I feel you. I was 20 when my dad died from an aneurysm. His gf was a total piece of crap and my mom hated him. I was on my own planning and paying for a funeral as a friggin kid. I was lucky that the funeral director had been friends with my dad in highschool, or I'd have been totally screwed. My dad was a BIG man. He was so big that they needed a special ordered casket. This was long before the days of go fund mes. Folks raised a bunch of money for the funeral, but it was still short. The funeral director ate the cost. Dude is such a damn good guy. He was pretty broken up himself. He told me that it was the first time he'd ever had to work on one of his life long friends. I'll never forget him totally loosing his shot when my gram walked in. He wasn't at my wedding, the birth of my kids, or any of that. Some days I miss him so damn much, but the worst part is that deep down inside I know he probably wouldn't have been there for any of those things anyways. But, what are ya gonna do other than shout into the void.

You give us the chance to experience what you know is valuable enough to miss. So, thank you for coming alive too. 🙏

"Well, Dog, mouse, fish, bird, a dead cat, a tac, a cat shaped hole in the wall, a pile of cat shaped antimatter, an arrangement of cat meat and bones creating a negative space bubble with the volumentric shape of a cat, an inside out cat, a cat who is generous, follows orders, hypo allergenic, and ugly as sin..........etc".
