Building pipelines in the United States and Canada is a time honoured tradition. As you can see in this video, the machines may look older, the clothes may be different, (and the photos are blurrier), but Pipelining is Pipelining. The men seen in these images did the same jobs day in and day out that men and women are doing across North America and the world, today, tomorrow, and into the future. As long as people continue to drive cars, heat their homes, or use plastics and rubbers, and regardless of what each era's political climate looks like, blue-collared workers building pipelines will always be needed.
We do not claim ownership of any of the images seen within this video. Copyright remains with the owners of the images. We have made this compilation video as a respectful homage to the hard working men and women of the past and to educate those of the present and future. If any of your images are shown here and you would like to have them removed, simply e-mail us and we will accommodate your request.

Absolutely! They aren’t as amazing of these.. I mean I have pics from the very early 50’s from my papaw Charles Wainwright through the 70’s when he and my dad Richard Vick worked on the Trans- Alaska with Associated. Both my brothers, Shane and Hunter are still pipelining- well, was!! I have been saying this a lot lately but i mean it to my core- ITS NOT A JOB- ITS WHO WE ARE! Do you have email that I could send pics. I’ve been trying to make copies for friends and family as well.. If you like some of them- would love for you to use them.. my family is from NorthEast Louisiana so it runs deep. Thanks again for doing this- it helps at times like these but ol joe doesn’t know- this isn’t over! PIPELINE PROUD!

@@sheavick7286 Wow, pipelining is really in your blood Shea! And you're right, this isn't over. 4 presidents have rolled through since the XL was proposed, and it's gone back and forth for a long time. But in that time, we've never stopped working on other pipeline jobs. And yes, we have an e-mail that you can send them to. Just go to our "about" page and click on "view e-mail". We're looking forward to seeing your photos, and hopefully we can include a couple of them in a video for you! Thanks Shea!

@Construction Fun - Please comment - Keep on Pipe-lining! America loves you. I once met an Alaskan pipe-liner in 1984 who told me stories about how the oil that travels through the raised pipes through Alaska are heated. He told me that the caribou actually stop and rest under the pipes during their dangerous arctic migration, probably saving many of their lives, including baby-boos. Many people don't know that more miles of Alaskan pipeline are above-ground than below. Take that story and shove it, you tree-hugging lunatics. There is nothing wrong with the XL Pipeline! Biden Bin Hidin is the only thing wrong because he's with China, who wants to kill us all! Biden has already allowed China control over USA electric grid! Woke da wake up! Superb video @Construction Fun. I salute you, and I love the audio.

Yes Bruce, the Alaskan Pipeline is a monument of legendary status. There are a lot of great short documentaries about the Alaskan Pipeline here on KZbin. In a couple of them, they do mention that the raised portions of the pipeline are heated to keep the oil from freezing. But also, the sections that are buried underground are refrigerated, which keeps the oil from melting the permafrost. It's incredible what human ingenuity, determination, and pure hard work can accomplish.

You know all these protesters going to sites probably drove there. Use cell phones and go home to a warm home. I work for a large gas utility in MASS. Steel and cast iron and now replaced or being replaced. HP 100 pounds to a 1/4 pound. Always was fascinated by the transmission lines supplying our take stations. Especially construction and installing a new section because of wear and tear before it rips open. Good video

Thanks Skip. We're glad that you enjoyed the video. There are 4 more in this series if you'd like to check them out. And yeah, people have the right to protest if they like, but I think that most of them don't realize how hard it would be to live in the world we've built if we didn't have pipelines and workers doing jobs like yours.

Thanks Kirsh. We're glad that you enjoyed it. We thought about adding narration, but also enjoyed it with just the music. We have 5 of these "old time pipelining" videos on our channel which start with very old pipelining images, and work up closer to the present. None of these 5 have narration, but we do have a bunch of other videos on our channel that are narrated. Maybe check those ones out and tell us what you think.
