Gold paint on the bread. Should polish the mating blade surface like the retaining bolt. Nice job!

Very nice result. I would have considered making a new set of wood planes. The blade is very finely polished but it doesn’t seem to have been sharpened… strange.

Keeping the original wood was a great choice. Restore is always better than replace.
