I hate to break this news to anybody that was expecting something else next year, but this will be the last daily video series I do for a special - so I hope you all liked it! I know my favourite games list is outdated by a few years and this list will most likely follow in terms of showing its age, but to keep on updating these with the same series every year isn't something I'm honestly interested in doing. I'll get very quickly bored of that, and you'll be able to tell. Either way, I hope you all enjoyed 2018's Holiday Special, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Did any of you do anything special for the midnight countdown? I just chilled with my family while we watched the BBC fireworks and I 100% completed Yooka Laylee on my laptop. Yep - the first thing I did in 2019 was defeat Capital B and 100% Yooka for the 2nd time. Can anyone beat that for odd-ness?

Whether or not it's a _good_ baby game is another thing entirely. Reminder that he excluded stuff like Peppa Pig or Tweenies even though he probably wouldn't recommend getting either for your kid. Bad baby game or not, the actual "game" aspect of Phoenix Games still fulfill their purpose, they're still minigames meant to be simple enough for children.

For Shadow the Hedgehog it's well documented that the Gamecube and Xbox versions are less buggy and play better than the PS2 version (same for Heroes). I played Shadow again recently for the first time since 2006. I actually found it quite enjoyable, and didn't struggle to get all 71 A ranks on most stages. The story is bad, but at least it's cheesy 3D Sonic bad and not just generic bad. Only a couple of missions took a few attempts for A ranks, mainly the Maria levels because of the layout. Maybe I just played well because it came off the back of playing Adventure 2 and Heroes.

Personally, I like Shadow. It's not my favorite Sonic game ever, but I do kind of appreciate the attempt. But it is easily the most subjective game in the series. You either like the game, or absolutely hate it. It's mostly opinion based for that game, so I'm not knocking anyone for disliking the game. I can see why you would not like it.

I will say, No Mans Sky has become something completely different than I realized. It’s fun now. You have multiple quests now, the ability to build things.... they’ve taken lots of the criticism into account to make it fun. So it’s become a mixture of spore space stage, dnd, Minecraft, and it has a few Star Wars vibes as well. Not for everyone but I love it now.

I was excited for "no man's sky" bc I stupidly had expectations that it was going to offer me something similar to a fully first person super metroid-ish style loop of exploring planets, caverns, ships, etc while trying to survive environmental hazards and the flora and fauna. But no. It was empty, boring, and I didn't encounter one single dinosaur/shark/dragon/tiger/squid analog critter during my first several hours of planets. I gave up, reluctantly

At least in Shadow, it was designed with that in mind, being a game that is fully 3D, plus there are other ways to defeat enemies besides guns. Mega Man X7 however, has no excuse, gone is the challenge of timing your shots while simultaneously platforming through the stage, now you're just pressing the attack button until the enemy dies, that applies to both the 2D and 3D sections.
