Love your channel bro. I got my first kayak last month which is also a BigWater 132 PDL. This thing is sweet. I haven't fished off of it yet, but I did take it out for a test run. I love it. It's starting to cool down here in Phoenix so I plan on getting out on it a lot. I have a bass boat but I wanted something I could get into smaller water with. Plus it's a hassle sometimes with a bigger boat and having to fuel it up. Keep the videos coming.
@Hook2Cook3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! It does mean a lot! Its definitely a great kayak and yes it probably excels in small water where your bass boat won’t fit. We’ll be doing a bunch of winter fishing in it here in California. My wife just got the salty pdl we will rig her up with for some trout

Probably because I ordered my own Bigwater pdl today, I really enjoyed watching your first adventure. As an up-until-now paddler on many different boats (Malibu X-13, Cobra, and Prowler) I did notice that your paddling was almost all arms. I am really curious to see how much the lawn chair style seat inhibits the shoulder and torso rotation that is the real power in smooth, fast paddling. The only other thing I would suggest you be aware of is what one guide in the Gulf of Mexico tells first time kayak fishing customers. If you get your head past the side of the boat the next thing going past the side is going to be your body. In calm waters you can get away with a lot of leaning. But once you get that puppy out on the blue water watch that head position. The more you can keep your head toward the center the more balanced you will be when you get swept by swells. Love your videos. Use your surf fishing techniques all the time. Keep on posting these vids.
@Hook2Cook3 жыл бұрын
Haha funny you mention that balance issue. Next video includes a spill....
@liamgarvey333 жыл бұрын
G Wolf, that's excellent advise regarding head position. Lots of new Kayak people (myself included) need to hear this stuff and understand that head position, plus being flexible and relaxed enough to learn how to maintain balance is vital for a dry ride. Hook2Cook's next video is a real education on that point.

Awesome first trip out... I gotta ask though what is it with guys with $1500 kayaks using and struggling with $2.00 landing nets lol. Nice thing about kayaks that big and stable you have enough room for a backpacking single burner stove and can make hot lunches like ramen with spam or similar, sounds crazy but a long cold day on the water burning calories hot food can make a difference on time out or the struggle getting back in.

Maybe try joining the old town sportsman owners group on Facebook to see if anyone nearby does. I’ve been on both and when I’m on the top water and someone’s borrowing my bigwater, it’s hard to keep up with the 132… but if speed or efficiency isn’t important to you but stability is, the 120 is a bit more stable primarily
