Make sure your canoe is fiberglass before using this method. If your canoe is plastic you will need to plastic weld it. Fiberglass won't stick to plastic.

Or use Kevlar skid plates

"This stuff smells hateful" lol! No doubt but it works sooo good! Just spruced up my 20 year old 16' prospector and did very similar repairs. You've done a great job on it and I got professional advice before I did mine so some of the comments on this page are pretty outrageous. I was thinking I needed to pain the hull by the supplier said it would add a lot of weight to the canoe. All those scratches are character and good memories brother!

I have an old fiberglass White canoe. Some of the same repairs necessary. Thanks for this excellent video.

Basically, been working in stages, first was to see if i could make paracord fill the seats, then the seat arm fixed, once i knew it was good i stained, painted trim, and patched hull before sanding which is next and a few more things, its getting close haha

Thanks had a little more drips than i wanted but sanding will take care of that, no biggie. I totally agree on carrying this kit, i only used half of this kit so i can store it and use it if necessary on the go and ill get 2 more large patches easy out of it ; )

Oh cool ya i asked a boating friend of mine what i shold use and he told me this stuff, seems to be working pretty good and solid, thanks bro this is new to me and i thought some of you guys would like to see a repair project, most peeps seem to dig the series some are a little jacked up about it not sure why lol anyways I was gonna spray paint the hull, do you think that would add too much weight? the can cant be more than a pound im thinking even if i use the whole thing. Thoughts?

I did this, based on the video.. The results weren't quite as cleanly finished as yours *but were probably due to my impatience and non labor skills*, but it looks like it is going to work. The process was VERY EASY and the finished product looks to be effective. The steel mesh hardens very well. It didn't require me to drill more holes in my canoe like other fixes. Will report on usage after I trial run it.

looks like you got a great handle on 2 part resin and fiberglass repair kits. A spare repair kit might be a handy item to have when you are away paddling boundry waters

Something that would help to protect the bow and stern from wear, would be to cut a piece of inch and a half pvc pipe in half and use silicone to attach it to the keel. you may need to heat it with a blow dryer to mold it to the keel, but it would provide a wear strip that would be easily replaceable, and would greatly extend the life of the canoe.

Wouldn't think spray painting would be a problem at all Mitch. I have a Blue Water kevlar/fiberglass canoe (you can see it on my channel "Northern Lake Adventure", did an awesome 3 day trip in May with it up here in the Great White North . . . which has a gel coat and THAT would be a lot of weight! I would double check this but think spray paint is no big deal. Looking forward to Part 6 Bro!

I was wondering if you performed the repairs on your canoe in the order that you released the videos? Just curious, thanks : )
