Transforming Old Town into an active hub of creativity, innovation and enterprise would be quite a game changer, considering the current sorry state of affairs. I like the idea of the buildings being used primarily to prototype and incubate new designs and processes, with also some retail and showroom. And not just for shoes / footwear, but also apparel and accessories. There's plenty of warehouse space on the east side of the river for seriously scaling up more production of established popular products that have been prototyped in this proposed Old Town innovation hub. Some of the production activities could even employ some of the folks from housing services in the area, keeping abled people off the streets and away from the negative street hustle and drug scene that may otherwise occupy their unused time.
