Trent has used samples before so I'm sure he appreciates what they have done here at least a little. Just shows that Trent is a prolific artist. Trent also made industrial music "radio friendly" if you will. He created his own trend and then dominated it. Art is art to me.

@@thisisisabella3634 True, and ironically also the reason NIN made their way to getting lumped in with alternative bands. Gravity Kills was pretty popular in 97 I remember them being on every movie and PS1 racing game soundtrack.

@@K3NTCLARK Yep NIN did get lumped into alternative even though its probably a little closer to disco and new wave from a production standpoint. Don't get me wrong though I was 18 when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, ect.. came out so and I loved that stuff too. But I always knew NIN was it's own thing and very different. More timeless too. If Closer came out today it would still sound new. We all recognize the sound of the 90s.

Thanks for your video. I had discovered this NIN credit on my own and further study brought me here. I haven't given a damn about NIN since head like a hole whenever that was. His/Their other stuff at the time didn't do anything. I'm unfamiliar with the subsequent decades of work so it's possible that there's stuff that I'd like but it's unlikely I'll make the time investment looking for it. Discovering the first part of Ghosts 34 was cool. I really liked it and found the full album but I didn't like it. I don't think it's because I'm a codger. I just don't like it enough. I understand if you do. I just don't wanna sift thru a bunch of stuff I don't like trying to find something I do. Yet, I'm happy with this little discovery. Old Town Road. I really like it. Pretty much everything about it. But it is most certainly Ghosts 34 that is the essential nature of the song. The tiktok thing makes me want to not like Old Town Road but I still like it nonetheless.

NIN has made other accessible albums since 1989's Pretty Hate Machine (Head Like a Hole), in addition to the more experimental/less accessible stuff like Ghosts. In my opinion, With Teeth is the 2nd-most accessible next to PHM -- and it's having a resurgence thanks to Black Mirror. The Downward Spiral has Closer and Hurt on it, as well as seriously creative lesser-known tracks. Year Zero is both conceptual art and solid industrial rock; at least two other albums have songs I'd put on my life soundtrack/desert island list. Perhaps you Gave Up too early.
