special thanks for uv - this is the same part of the work as modeling and texturing and the principle is not always clear, there is relative freedom, but it is always interesting as in the original

No problem! I totally understand, that's why I try to include them every once in a while. Sometimes I don't to save on uploading such a long video. I do however post the UV process usually to my Patreon page if its not on YT, if you're ever interested 🙂I'll keep it in mind for future videos though!

I NEVER comment on youtube videos but I want to say thank you for your videos! I appreciate that you upload frequently and show exactly how you model. I did 4 years of undergad as an Animation and Visual Effects student and now am a Master's student but I knew I needed more fundamental resources for modeling. Your videos are exactly what I need and have helped me so much! Please never stop uploading! You do BEAUTIFUL work!

Splendid tutorials, all of them. I would very much like one on how to model a human shaped character.
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, much appreciated! I haven't created a character in a while, I'm definitely not a character artist but when I did I would usually use Zbrush to sculpt it. I'd have to dust off my Zbrush skills first 😅 but possibly down the road!

@@polyrendr Thank you, so the workflow would be: ZBrush, Maya, SubstancePainter and back to Maya ?

This is really helpful to see how someone experienced approaches a project. Also can you enable auto-generated captions for better audio accessibility?
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For some odd reason YT didn't generate captions, usually it does so I'm not sure why its not working in this video. If I figure it out, I'll fix it!

A great video showing the process creating an game asset, thanks for the video! Are you working for a big company because these looks like an asset of an AAA game?
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I do work for a company but they don't make video games, these models are just for the channel. Lots more to come!

Is texel density still important? I went to uni a few years ago and remember them teaching me to use the texel density tool within maya. Watching a few of you videos and not seeing it being used made me question if it was even needed as long as you make sure the main UV islands are pretty similar in size, so your models aren’t blurry when texturing. Love the videos!

Very useful, thanks for such content! I would like to know if this is a midpoly model, right? Can this model be added to the game engine?
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes it is, and yes it could be used in a game engine. I would recommended combining the objects before exporting but everything should work smoothly 🤘

Awesome Tutorial, What modifier do you click at 17:02 ??
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just use the align tool. It is found under Modify>Snap Align Objects>Align Objects. Make sure to click that small square beside it to open up the settings window, and make sure Align in: World X, Y and Z is checked and Align To: is set to "Last selected object". Once you use the tool once with those settings, I then press Control + Shift and click that command in the menu to hotkey it to my UI bar. I use this constantly while modelling so it saves me a lot of time. I hope this helps!

I have noticed you don't normally merge your parts of 3d models together. Can you please explain why and when you think it's appropriate to merge parts?
@polyrendr2 жыл бұрын
The only reason why I don't in my videos is because all of these models are just for YT, the parts don't really benefit me if they're combined and honestly its just me being lazy 😅 You should always combine them, I always do after I'm done the UV mapping, as one of the final steps right before exporting it. I wait until after the UV's so I can easily make edits to the model if needed, and also it allows me to individually click on each object which makes UVing much easier. Now that you mention it, I'll try to add that part into my videos!

Not at the moment, however next month I am planning on giving my Patreons access to some of the models to download, as well as some future video models as well.

Why does everything that comes out of Substance Painter look like it’s just been through a tornado???? People need to look at reference of real life objects!

This was supposed to look "old" and "worn out" 😆 Take a look at other videos if you wanna see cleaner looking models.
