Hell yes! She really speak her mind. At the London show, Islington 2019, there was an obnoxious american fan, with a little teddy bear in hand, bothering other fans. Until Saiki told him to pipe it down. Let's say it was a fearsome (and spectacular) sight.

That guy I remember, we at front told him to stop. Also me and probably a few others were not far away of knocking him down. But realizing he was drunk I guess we couldn't do it and left him in his own shame. I bet after the gig he would gotten a piececof mind on the way out. I hope he will never show up again. What an idiot that was to ruin a good evening.

As an avid interview reader, I didn't learned a thing ... but yet I really enjoyed this great narrative - I was like a kid listening to his father telling him the same story he already heard ten times, before going to sleep. And it will be incredibly usefull for new or recent fans! Your informations about her surgery are correct, but let me add a small medical clarification: Saiki's surgery didn't made her voice better - it only brought it back to normal. All the following improvements are the result of her work (alone and with her coach), dedication and experience.

In a group of women striking for very different reasons, Saiki is outstanding for her beauty, elegance but above all stage prescence. She has that precious natural gift for dominating the stage merely by being there. Having the audience in her hands from that moment her superb voice and vocal interpretation lead the band to stupendous performances full of delight and emotion. I think Band Maid might have made it without Saiki. but it's doubtful. With her they are undoubtably the finest band in the world. A fine documentary sir. Thank you.
@surfingasongwave

One thing that occurred to me (but I've never heard any of them mention it) - Saiki is the youngest, and she hired into a band with some really excellent musicians. If it had been me, I would have been intimidated by Akane, Misa, and Kanami and felt like I was not really in their league. The experience with her surgery might have made her feel like she actually *IS* integral to the band, and the past few years have made her feel like Band-Maid is *her* band and not just the band she sings for. There is an interview with Saiki and Kobato on VanityMix on August 11, 2022 where Saiki says "We released a video on the 'Day of Maid', this May, where we played together in the studio for the first time in a while, and I thought I hadn’t heard this loud sound for a long time (laughs). After that, we started rehearsing there more and more, and I was like “I love being in the band!”

Very well done. I too put this band to the side for years because of the image. Finally took the chance through the pandemic to listen to their music and never turned back. Although I enjoy every member of the band Saiki will always be my favorite. It's crazy how she just sort of became the face of the band with her attitude and presence. This series is amazing and should be viewed by all.

Many elements in Band Maid separate them from the other Japanese bands, but one big one is Saiki's voice. I don't need to speak Japanese to listen to her sing. She is brilliant. Thanks to all involved, and especially Kasper Michaels for lending his great voice to this project. Very charismatic and with the pinch of humor, it is also not too overly serious. @@franshendrix1404 As a Japanese, I am happy that they value Japanese. It leads to cherishing the heart of Japan. The lyrics have emotions and Japanese culture that can only be expressed in Japanese. Watching this on Saiki's 2023 birthday right after seeing your birthday tribute. When I heard all those people from around the world wishing her 'Happy Birthday', I cried tears of joy! Saiki IS the voice of Band Maid! Her voice is made of silk and gold!

That was awesome. Saiki has truly grown as a singer and I’m sure she will continue to do so. Her voice is so rich. I hope she is still doing live shows when she’s in her 70s like one of my other favorite Japanese singers, Mieku Kaji. Of course I will have to live to be 110 to hear her then, but it’s important to have goals. Much thanks Ohrenje.

Awesome docu-series! Can't wait for Misa's story. Having listened to a LOT of J-rock and VK for over several decades, I learned how not to judge a band by their appearances, Dir en Grey, Versailles Philharmonic Quintet, Malice Mizer and X Japan being perfect examples, lol. So Band-Maid just continued a long track record of Japanese rock that really rocks despite how they dress.

I usually avoid fan or reaction videos and the like, but I'm glad I watched this, very well done. I've seen Band-Maid nine times in Japan from 2017 to 2020, and I'll be there for the Tokyo Garden show and hopefully any others they do around that time!

It was a beautiful video, great job! Even if you know a lot about Band-Maid and Saiki, it always touching hear their story and how this awesome band came together. Saiki has growing a lot not only as a singer but also as a PR, creating a golden comedy duo with the almighty pigeon

Starting with Miku and ending with Saiki would've made more sense chronologically speaking.

I’m loving all these videos on the members and of course I went backwards. What I find interesting and happy for them is the lack of experience before they go pro and happy to have them in my ears. Interestingly I believe their lack of professional experience has a lot to do with how well they gelled together and happy they found a cool music sound. Professionally Vocalists really need to be trained classically to sing properly no matter the genre. I am thankful her surgery went well as is not the case for some. But her vocals and the band are destined for our ears to hear. Vocalists please take care and practice to build up stamina for your vocal chords. Learn your natural range and expand in octaves. Sing from your diaphragm open the throat, proper position of the face for vowel and consonants at all times loud or quiet (fortissimo or piano). In other words sing from your core squeeze the gluteus maximus, that forces you to use your diaphragm and core to support vocals while dancing as well. Sing it loud, beautiful and keep it moving and grooving Miss Saiki. This old jazz musician is happy for you, the other band members and grateful for your talents. Keep it Rock’n!

I read about Band-Maid in a newspaper article about animé culture in Japan. I already knew about gothic lolita culture so never laughed. Then I saw them on youtube. Jawdropping talent. They make grungey metalheads look dated now.

You forgot to mention that Saiki’s voice triggered Kanami to create songs when she first heard Saiki sing. Saiki is like Kanami’s muse. They ham up this fact a lot, most notably in the Don’t you tell me music video. p.s the only one that uses her real name is Akane.
