A little followup after a few days of wearing this new pair. I'm a little conflicted about using the Brainwavz earpads still just because they are a little HOTTER to wear for long periods of time, and also since they have so much extra padding, they seem to squeeze my head so much more. But I've heard some people just give the head band an outward bend to reduce how squeezy it is, so I might try that (but I'm scared to) or I might try going back to the Shure velour pads. But other than that, these are working great.
@Napoleonwasright6 жыл бұрын
Shure also makes their Alcantara pads. A mix of the two sound-wise, but closer to velour heat wise IMO
@Shark00n13376 жыл бұрын
If you’re not comfortable bending them (remember to bend at the metal part, not the plastic), just leave then fit overnight on a big box or pillow wider than your head. Do that for a few days or until they feel better

Shure velour. Shurevelour. Shurvulur. I like the way that sounds. I'm gonna make a doodle around Shurevelour, the great mystical ear pads from ancient legends.

Yeah something with memory foam is that it traps heat and reflects it back A LOT, so if you want you could try finding a different kind of Brainwavz earpads that aren’t memory foam or just deal with the excess heat lol 🤷♀️

The only problem with changing the stock pads is a totally different frequency curve which renders them unusable really. Maybe some of the replacement pads flattens the curve further, but you could never know before the purchase.

I use Sennheiser 650. Used 555 before. Neither are good for travel, but they're comfortable and have lasted me for 10 years and counting. Audiophiles are crazy though, and are exploited by lots of companies. Beware that rabbit hole. Between my 650 headphones and my CX300ii earphones that cost only $30, there is no difference in my enjoyment of sound. Only a difference in how they feel on the head. PS: Burn in (the playing sound for n hours thing) is total superstition. Like I said, audiophiles are crazy. I used to like hydrogenaudio forums a little back 10 years ago because at least they had skeptics and people who would attempt to do more scientific testing. But it's all crazy.

Peter Draws Like you wouldn't believe. People will pay $300 for cables. Headfi was always the worst for actively encouraging shills to con people. @harveymilne16846 жыл бұрын
The only thing you need to look at really is impedance and the frequency spectrum in my opinion. As far as wires go, it doesn’t really matter. If you want to buy a gold plated jack lead then go ahead but it won’t make any difference to the sound quality unless the input you’re plugging your headphones into is gold plated too.
@TheSkepticSkwerl6 жыл бұрын
I would imagine burn in had an effect because the material becomes a but more flexible. But even still. The sound difference is probably too minimal to tell for any one.

I am by no means an audiophile, I don't know much at all, but I think I know what I like. I want crisp sound, but with a slightly boosted bass because I play games and like the depth to explosions etc. I was thinking of getting these and using them with an equaliser. For £120 these seem perfect, but people complain about the small sounstage, I haven't a clue what that is so hopefully it doesn't make much of an impact. I just dont want to hear outside noise.

Did your new headphones sound the same as the old ones? Last year I bought a pair of M50x headphones. They sounded great right from the beginning, but I also noticed a gradual change in their sound over a few weeks of using them. The basses became softer and more pleasant to listen to. They literally became better. Now, someone will probably say that it's only my ears, and yes, it was my conclusion too until a couple of weeks ago when I bought another pair of the same headphones. Upon unboxing, they DID NOT sound the same as my old headphones. They had the same kind of bass my older headphones used to have in the beginning, the difference was very noticeable. But after a few weeks of constant usage they softened too and now I can say with certainty that they sound almost the same.

My ears tend to get sweaty with the leather ear pads, how much would you recommend different ear pads for me? And another thing, I think these headphones are really durable and are worth it just for that fact. However I do NOT recommend them for listening to bass heavy music on a commute or loud place. The low frequencies get really muffled by outside noise, and all you hear is sharp high frequencies paired with mids. But for home use they are perfect.

assuming you haven't blown a driver / have rattle ..etc and the rest of the headphones are intact you can order a new headband from Audio-Technica ... cost about $24 + shipping and you have to desolder the old headband and solder the new headband in. I made a video about doing this with my own circa 2012~ M50's that had the headband start flaking and all. oh one thing that changed.. My M50X's were made in Taiwan vs my old M50's that were built in china. For anyone that likes the M50's but doesn't need a set that fold up for travel.. I really like my beyerdynamic DT770's but you basically need an amp of some sort for them... I have a Creek OBH-11 on my desk that does them just great.

Do you want a great pair of headphones with superior sound and great bass or something okay sounding that has a decent mic on it? If you're looking for gaming headphones, hyperx alphas are great. I own a pair I use for gaming. The sound is better than most more expensive gaming headphones like razer and the mic is pretty decent. If you want something to listen to music with, ATH-M50xs are hands down way, way better. They sound leagues better than any gaming headphones I've ever used and, as someone who'd never owned a genuinely good pair of headphones before, blew my mind. But I don't want to buy a separate mic to game with so I don't use them for that. But you could if you wanted. Their sound isn't comparable, one is made with internals intended for music creation and accurate sound while the other allocated its space to being able to add a mic. I love both but for different reasons.
