I believe the differences between the two, being 2007 is more opaque is due to the prices rising, pigments and binders are more expensive then before

I think, if you'd compare them at 19:42, you'll see that the 2019 is more opaque in colors yellow orange, brown and yellow green. All the other colors are more on the transparent side. What I like about the old prang is that it disperses better than the new one. What i dont like about the old is that the white changed color. It changed beautifully, but it could also change the appearance of the paintings done before. Now with the new set, we are yet to see if white changes color in time as well.

hii, as an idea maybe you could do a video tutorial where you do maybe 4 of the small paintings? (like the ones you do for the reviews of the paints) I looove the small paintings you do and I'd love to see how you do them

This was a fun and informative video. I do not have the new ones but I have a set from 2005. I did not know that you could take it apart into two sets. I like how it has mixing areas on both sides compared to the newer ones. I will make sure I keep the older container when I run out of paint. I have a smaller set some where from collage that is quite a bit older. I will have to find that one and compare.

Wow! This is a great review, Kuya Allan! 👋 Old Prang (2007) pigments really are great set. You're a Great Keeper ah (the Old Prang set you have looks pretty neat and parang bago..) I personally love Prang, too. Ang ganda ng intensity and flow/distribution ng kulay nila.. Glad I happened to use an Old Prang also when I first got my interest at painting, and I learned from it. Sayang, nagbago pala vibrancy (and performance?) ng pigments nila.. But, it is Prang! Ganda ng Prang 2007 white (ala Buff Titanium 😄) P.S. I love the sounds background on the vids ~ birds singing & chirping. Parang nasa garden, so relaxing. 🥰

Hahaha. Salamat! actually angganda nga nung naging buff titanium siya.. pero dun talaga ako na bother eh. kasi paano kung yung white ng 2019 eh ginamit mo sa skin, tapos after ilang years maging buff titanium na siya. hahaha, eh di mag-iiba ung painting.. vibrant parin naman yung new Prang pero pumangit yung dispersion.. yun ung major change for me. :(

@@AllanJayQuesada Ay oo nga noh. Ahahaha.. Parang kung sa makeup, nag-oxidize (oxidation) siguro yun kaya nagchanged to darker tone. 😅 That's chrue, at very noticeable kasi tlga yung changes. 🙁

@@xenoncs2141 Happy to have helped. :) If you use white, I dont recommend you to use the White of Prang as it may change color in time. it may change your painting's appearance too.

Very interesting. I wonder which ones are better lightfastness wise? I personally love prang, I got my younger nieces and my kids this set for Christmas. They love them.

hmm.. the lightfastness needs to be proven by a test. Will do it early nextyear. :) Yes, Prang is also the Philippines favorite,especially by students. :)

I remember playing around with the older set back when I was 6th grade. I got a new set for a design class and was disappointed with the results of the new ones.

This is also something to be aware if you are planning on buying prang watercolors. One thing that really bothers me about this watercolor is, since it's semi moist once you put a lot of paint onto your painting, the paint won't dry, it still has that moist texture on the paper. As for me, I do a lot of sketchbook paintings so if that happens the paint will transfer into the other paper, and it looks so dirty, it also smudge a lot since the paints isn't dried properly. Just be careful using too much paint

Yes, i agree to that. And in addition to the risk of messing the opposite pages in the book, thick paint application also attracts insects. Insects love Prang! I think, another way to solve this is to avoid making thick watercolor applications, since watercolor is traditionally after translucence afterall. 🙏🎨

Kaya when i reviewed the new prang last yr, napansin ko, kakaiba, parang nag iba.. so i did this comparison., yun pala kasi, ang alam ko talagang Prang performance eh itong sa 2007. ganon parin siya till now, maliban sa white na nag mukhang buff titanium..

i have the new prang palette and considering how cheap it is it doesn’t scare you into using a lot of paint which is great for practice or sketchbook work!! better than most cheap sets out there

Yes, Prang is reliable.. even better than some more expensive sets, like FC solid and SK pocket sketch box.

I bought my Prang back in 2006 for college pero hindi ganito itsura. It’s the same plastic case pero BLACK yung label nya tapos may isda sa logo na nakalagay po na “PRANG PROFESSIONAL - Semi moist OVL-16H.” I bought it National Bookstore Mango Ave, Cebu City (the OLDEST NBS in the Province, I’m Cebuano) and this was when NBS just happened to have these “oldstock” Prangs for sale when I was still in college, I guess. I got them for 500php. in 2006 money (they ARE a bit pretty pricy back then) I unearthed them fairly recently since I felt interested in watercoloring again, halos kumpleto WITH the plastic clear case that since YELLOWED lol. Pero yung WC set mismo maputi pa naman. And I’ve been researching for the make and year galing yung Prang ko and I have a speculation na parang around late 1999 to early 2000s sakin. And I completely agree, the vibrancy on older watercolor sets is CRAZY GOOD. Sa Prang ko yung TURQUOISE BLUE, RED VIOLET at DEEP GREEN grabe ang ganda ng kulay, it gives a very “nostalgic” feel, I can already see the difference by seeing your 2019 Prang. Ang layo ng saturations sa bagong Prang, but it’ll probably be better if it “ages” in a few years hehe 👌

Wow! 😍 Thank you for sharing this! haha nakita ko lang itong video kaka check kung anong water color bibilhin ko (gusto ko na kase ma practice ulit ung water color as a hobby or art therapy..) akala ko di na ok ung meron ako..😅 exactly the same as your 2007 Prang, though mas nauna ko nabili siguro ung sa'kin sir, kase 2002 plang nag start nako bumili ng supplies reqts. Hihi nakaktuwa naman! maganda pa pala itong meron ako now.. maybe I will not buy a new set yet, practice muna ako using what I have now.. 😊 Di ko na din kase alam kung anong pipiliin ko haha sa dami ng options.. your vlog is very helpful po! Mas luma pa po ata yan. Treasure po yan. itabi niyo po. heheh. I cant really say the difference kasi I havent tried it yet. Pero siguro mas mahal yan kasi made in US. mas mataas ang labor doon kaysa sa MExico. But for the quality, cant really tell. :)

I got the older set at a local store 16 years ago.. so i guess, you will no longer find it now in big stores as they will only have the new ones. Months ago, i found online a seller who was selling old stock of Peang in black container with fish graphics. It required reactivation efforts of the paints but after that, It was all good. I think your only option is to consider and risk trying out the ones you find in rainbow resources. You can for product photos before purchasing. 😊

@@bernadettecruz8245 malapit na price ng white nights, if you can, go for it. Nasa 1.3k lang ata ung 12color tubes sa deovir, and 1.6 kay sell for a cause. Before prang, kung ano ano lang. Pentel, best buy.. etc. Kaya di ko naappreciate noon ang Watercolor e. Hehe. Mas markers gingamit ko. Kurecolor. Nagpa sponsor ako sa ate ko. Akala ko kasi noon, best ever na ung pentel e. Lol

It's normal naman that they crack, kahit mga artist grade ko, nag ccrack. Hehe. But if it bothers you, you can try to drop gum arabic na nabibili sa mga art stores or honey. Some say glicerin but jve not tried glicerin yet.
