In this video we test two Yamaha Waverunner VX Cruiser HO's. One is a 2023 model fit with the old 1.8L engine and the other is a new 2024 VX Cruiser HO packing the updated 1.9L engine.
We hit the water on these two Waverunners to see which has better fuel economy, ride characteristics, faster top speed and more. Let us know which Waverunner you prefer in the comments below.

you are my hero. I was literally trying to find a video comparison for these 2 waverunners just yesterday and found nothing then YT just recommended this to me. The other video comparison that no one has ever done is the new 3cyl vx Limited vs the vx cruiser HO. I would have assumed it would be the number 1 video comparison because those are the 2 most compelling purchase options for buyers looking for the prefect balance of price and performance. Still can't believe no one has ever put them head to head the way you did in this video.

Great video! Could you do a review of the 2024 GP HO? Or even the 2025 with the new speakers if you have one

Great video but I’d appreciate more accurate speed runs using a handheld gps or a phone app. That being said I’d stick with the tried and true 1.8litre engine allowing that new 1.9 litre time to work out any issues that come up.

Best review I've seen of the 2024 waverunner! if you want to go over the top I think it would be interesting to mount a 2023 intake grate on the 2024 and compare fuel economy after that. I'm a long distance rider so not impressed with the 2024 model consuming more fuel.. if you think the hook-up is better on the 2024 model it could be that they've made the intake grate more aggressive and that's the reason for the decrease in mpg.

Based on the color scheme, that 2023 VX HO actually seems to be from 2022 (unless things were different in Canada). Not a big deal since the specs carried over between MY2022 and MY2023.

I have an FX Yamaha.. my advise is if you are lighter (150lb or so) get a bigger machine (heavier) and if you are like 180+ then a smaller one will do fine.. it's about getting it down in the water and plowing through the waves/wakes better.

the fuel used test is very telling...that was quite the difference...we'll see how this new 1.9 holds up, the 1.8 was bulletproof!

Maybe you saw 119 km/h in your dream from a 2024 VX HO 1.9 .. The Riva stage one kit is available only for supercharged models. There is no Yamaha supercharged 1.9 liter engine available yet

Was there much of a difference between the two in engine hours?

Your reviews are some of the best out there! I have one of the notorious fast 2011-2014 VXS's. It has an impeller change and some air intake mods so it hits very close to 70 on a radar gun but that is with 1/2 a tank. Brand new and stock it hit just under 68 mph. I haven't met a 1.9 out in the wild yet.

Guys do you think that the new yamaha fx2025 limited svho is worth it and what are some notable differences from last year.

Would be great to get the Yamaha rep back, as these 1.9's are appearing to be thirsty. I think when yamaha used the word "efficient" they mean't.... efficient at producing 200hp in N/A engine. Not fuel economy. From the yamaha site they mention the below. The taper on the new throttle body has been removed for a smoother, crisper throttle response, making the new 1.9L HO engine an honest competitor to other brands’ supercharged motors.

If everything is the same, I rather have the 1.8 because I would be using this for long distance as I already have a 310.

Great video as usual but those fuel numbers can’t be right. The 24 1.9 actually used less fuel overall 2.3 gallons used compared to 2.6 gallons used on the 23 1.8 in the same 30 minutes. Extrapolate that out for over a few hours and it’s ahead by quite a bit

The fuel numbers don’t make sense. The 2023 used 2.6 gal while the 2024 used 2.3. So the 2024 used less fuel but has a shorter range. While the 2023 has better MPG. These numbers are contradicting.

It's crazy to me how the fuel economy on the 1.9 is so much worse. You get way less range and somehow 6 km less in the 30 minutes
@kontsombos1956
@kontsombos1956 Ай бұрын
I wouldn't say the fuel economy on the 1.9 liter engine was that bad in comparison with the 1.8 liter engine. At 60 kph -37mph the 1.8 done 3 km per liter and the 1.9 liter done 2.7 km per liter.It's only 0.3 liter the difference.

@kontsombos1956 yeah but in the previous video about the 1.9 he brought an official yamaha spokesman that said the fuel economy should be better on the new model
