Hi Tracy, This is the first of your videos I have watched. Several things I really enjoyed. No talking, great color choices and most of all…..you dedication to overcoming the problems. I plan to catch up and watch any other projects you have completed. Many thanks for the time spent putting this on KZbin.

I was skeptical of the primed piece, but LOVE the oak top you painstakingly uncovered, and the paint inlays are very cool! Really beautiful result - with NO power tools!! I don’t usually like ‘busy’ furniture, but this is just stunning - love the blue and that brass! 😊 Personally I think the gold molding bits are too much, but that’s just me and I do really appreciate your lovely work here. 🎉❤

Tracy - (I hate myself for saying this), I almost cried when I saw the piece primed. 😢 I got excited when you stripped the top and started to strip the drawers. When you stopped stripping and started your next process, I resigned myself to watching the rest of the video, and I will say you did a beautiful job remaking this piece. You used some interesting techniques and I loved the color and design of your appliques. So anyway, don't mind me, I am an unapologetic purist when it comes to vintage and antique pieces, especially wash stands ( I have several ) Looking forward to your next project. 😊

If you people are so offended over painted furniture, you should probably not watch. Many pieces of furniture are destined for the dump for whatever reason and if someone can redo, redesign, resell, repurpose, it can be of use to someone else for many years. So stop it.

@user-harris Жыл бұрын
@Tracy Miller A lot of what is done to remake or refurbish can go either way. But as you pointed out, you can touch up or change things. So it is helpful to give the realistic example and leave the shaky moments. You showed how you dealt with it. Anyway, good work, I liked it.

Wow, it looked so much bigger that it actually is. It was an inch thick in paint! LOL The top may have done okay with a pre-stain thing. I can't remember what it's called but it's a conditioner for the wood so it takes stain better. I hope that helps to relieve some stress next time. I love how it turned out. It was a true labor of love!!
@tracymillerdesigns Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really isn't that big. I've heard about wood conditioner, but hoped to fix the top with products I already had. Seems like I'm always making a trip to Home Depot for something! Thank you for your compliment!

Hey! We got some cleaning also!😂 I drive my hubby crazy with socks and flip flops-but too bad, comfort rules.😊 Bar keepers is a necessity of life! I am about to restart a country modern tea table (with the big wagon wheel rollers)-and I’m going to look at those inlays for sure! It may be a piece I actually paint because it isn’t that old, and it’s out of style, so painting and a design should pull it together.❤

Advice: if you’re gonna apply polyurethane over bare wood, as I do often, you need to know you will have to apply at least 4 coats before you can start to get an even and noticeable finish. The first 2-3 coats absorb into the wood. I do 5-7 coats with 0000 steel wool and lightly and gently sand in between to get the desirable effect.
