Thank you Tim. We sure do enjoy doing them. Like we say, Old Wayz aren't difficult but do occasionally require some creative thinking..! 🐻

Thanks guys . When your sealer finally gives it up, I highly recommend getting the bigger unit, the one with the hose. That with the adapter, then you can vacuum seal mason jars. Perfect for storing dry goods like beans, rice, sugar, salt, flour, etc… Get a big ol bag of those little desiccant pouches, and you can get dry goods to last for a very long time. Sealed mason jars are great for the freezer as well. Blanched and precut veggies, leftover soups and such. Also, I don’t use the fancy bags with the absorbent thing, I just fold up a sheet of paper towel and put it at the top of anything I have that is moist.

That is the way to do it. You folks should have cold weather vegetables coming in soon. They usually freeze up well if you like it that way. About two weeks after the initial opening of the season growers start to discount them.

That's true Willys.. I'll keep my eyes open..! 🐻

One tip I use for sealing juicy items, lay them out on a baking sheet and put them in the freezer just long enough to freeze all the juice. Usually overnight is plenty. For things like chicken I also put a drying rack on the baking sheet to let some drainage happen before it freezes.

Good advice Oste..! 🐻

That's a good way to cut down on grocery bills. You can also make 1 person portions to freeze to take camping. Sometimes I will double seal the bags.
@baileybrunson427 ай бұрын
Thank you William.. I do find that it helps a lot both in cost and in portion savings. By portioning I find that everyone gets full and there is very little waste.. thanks for watching..! 🐻

You can do soups and stews too. Fill the bags leaving enough room to seal. Leave them open and put them in the freezer propped upright until they freeze. Then you can seal the bags with no liquid mess.
@jerrydonnelly61348 ай бұрын
You can marinate it too by hitting the seal button before the all the airs out. you put whatever meat you want to cook and it provides a faster and better marinade.
@baileybrunson428 ай бұрын
You're right Jerry.. it's an awesome way to do it.. 🐻

Prepare meals and freeze. Then when camping drop the bag in hot water to heat, and it keeps your pot clean.
@baileybrunson427 ай бұрын
Very true William.. and you can use the hot water for coffee or tea.. thanks for watching..! 🐻

What's up handsome boys! I just delivered some beef yesterday to my family. It ended up some where around $4.23 a pound. I didn't crunch the exact numbers. Quick tip, if you semi freeze your meat then it won't have juice in the way of the sealer. In a pinch i have used paper towel at the top of the bag and it worked out great. I hope this helps guys.
@baileybrunson428 ай бұрын
Thanks Billy..! You're right buying in bulk really works well in most cases..! 🐻

Also great for sealing important documents that are irreplaceable if you live in an area prone to flooding, or other hardcore weather events. Cash as well, even the bang bang stuff (Pyrodex, primers, ect… wink, wink…).
@baileybrunson427 ай бұрын
Excellent points sir..! 🐻

Bear if it takes too long to suck the air out hit the power button to shut off before it seals and start over. I turn bag over and look at it. It has a smooth side and textured side. The machine likes the seal on one of the different sides. I can't remember which side seals better.
@baileybrunson428 ай бұрын
Yeah Jerry that's what we thought too. In fact we started putting pressure on the top to help it out..! 😄🐻

Becareful buying off brand bags. I did and they didn't seal as good. Have you tried cooking in the bags. I watched a few videos where they do because they are rated for it. I was thinking of making up a meal to boil in a Alcohol Stove. Thanks again for posting your videos passing on your knowledge. Also you two talking stuff reminds me of hanging out with my brothers and buddies. Miss those days.

Back when I had a house full of kids and a big ol barrel sized barbecue I’d buy chicken by the case like that, marinate the whole case overnight in a cooler, and barbecue the whole mess of chicken. After everyone ate their fill we’d use the seal-a-meal like you did but with the cooled leftover bbq chicken and throw it in the freezer. It made for easy weeknight dinners. Just take out a couple packs the night before and fix a big salad to serve with the chicken. You could just eat it cold or drop the sealed bags into a pot of hot water for a few minutes.

I use a vacuum sealer also but the way my parents did this before vacuum sealers cam out. They wrapped the meat in cling wrap and then put it in a freezer bag it kept it from getting freezer burn also because air didn't touch the meat. I hate cling wrap but it works if you don't have a vacuum sealer.

will there be Old Wayz cast-iron Dutch oven cooking in the future?
@baileybrunson428 ай бұрын
Yeah Kris, I want to. A fellow in my neighborhood stole my deep Dutch oven and caused a setback for me. I know who he is, have witnesses and I have contacted local law enforcement. Those things run about a hundred dollars each. Short answer. Yes. Stay tuned 😉.. 🐻
