Good looking tractor. I bought an old used Ford 960 with an automatic transmission, that needed replacement. I had some work done twice and really needed to get a used manual transmission. No money for that, so it sat for several years. That 45hp engine was a work horse though. Glad you made it through the hurricane and tornadoes. We got the remnants and were without power for 26 hours. We had water because our well is a siphon and the Bluetti 70 power source served the CPAP I need. Found out I can definitely get two nights. We're seriously considering getting a larger unit after really assessing our needs-freezer, and refrigerator.

Keeping a chainsaw ready is not that hard. You need mix gas and bar oil. Don't leave gas in the tank during storage unless you have nonethanol gas. That is the biggest problem with small engines sitting. Don't keep chainsaw gas. Keep your normal gas, an empty 1 gal cheap can, a bottle or two of the right mix for your saw. Mix the gas when you need it. If you have left over and don't want it just sitting stick it in a gas tank on your lawn mower or even a vehicle. Mixed in with another 10-20 gallons of gas that oil is nothing. Nowadays you can get battery operated chainsaws that are actually pretty good. You are not looking for a saw with more than a 16 to 18" bar. Make sure you can sharpen the chain with a file. Plenty of videos to teach you. Bigger is hard to handle unless you are young and fit. Cutting with an ax or a bow saw will require a lot of work which sucks a lot of energy and water on your part. If you think there might be bigger things take out your tow strap and pull them. Frankly I have several winches. I won't even mess with the high-Lift for winching. I have an old heavy ratcheting one, but also a cheap 2000 lb electric one from HF for less than $100. I use it more than any and it is just a 12 volt. Hook it to car battery or lawnmower, motorcycle battery. 2000 lb pull does a lot. Really if a person can afford the expense there is nothing better than keeping an old pickup licensed and insured. I am not wealthy, never have been but I have always found even an old farm beater to invaluable. Insurance for liability on an old vehicle is not much. License is one thing that is there no matter what. By the way in the far north the longest it takes for sides streets to be cleard is at most two days even after a blizzard. Alleys are close behind. Worse thing we face is derechos which are more frequent but have always been a problem.

Useless for those of us in Canada who can't call long distance. No reason why they can't have an email or website in 2024. Even our much smaller local surplus store has FB and a website. You can't put a one-off on a site, but you can certainly post a FB post when you get a new shipment of an item in.

@@baileybrunson42 yessir! At just 26 years young I feel like I'm one of very few from my generation clinging to a dying art in the cast iron cookin I was raised on. All this new fancy stuff they're coming out with will never hold a candle to some well kept cast iron and I have a few pieces to prove so that have been feeding my bloodline since back before the Great Depression. I normally just carry a surplus mess kit along with the canteen set and it will do mostly what I need it to in the field but occasionally i'll hang a 6 inch iron off my pack that does things the mess kit just cant. I call it the ole "bell ringer". 😂 You may have already seen them before but I would highly suggest checking out the "Cook-It-All" by Lodge for a an absolutely FANTASTIC one off piece of equipment for base camp. Keep up the awesome vids, not too many from y'all's generation doing what you're doing anymore, passing on the knowledge and stories of the old ways to folks like myself and I really look up to you and Blackie for it! 👊🏻
