For the folding saw...try the corona razor tooth saw first, im sure you've seen them before but they're tougher than a silky and a lot less cost. It also cuts as good as a silky in my opinion, and it won't break if you mess up a little lol.

very interesting presentation. I appreciate you sharing your rig and it's contents. You continue to gain confidence as a presenter. I like your comment " you do you" you come across as genuine and factual. Food comment: I agree the FEMA meals are basic and a last resort. I'd prefer pinto beans chopped onions and corn bread but like you said it's substance and filling. The farm tractor and wagon remind me of days gone by that are now cherished. Thanks Bear!

I'm glad you enjoyed it Tim.. anyone can put a kit together but the items I select might not fit you or Blackie or anyone else.. that's where the "do you" comes from.. your beans 🫛, onions 🧅 and bread 🍞 sounds much better than those FEMA meals but they will fill a hollow spot.. I've tried to improve my presentation skills.. I'm glad to know it's paying off.. 🐻

Good thinking. Did I miss your compass? I like to carry orange marking tape as well as a little LED strobe for night time location. Old time hikers and Vietnam soldiers carried orange vitamin C tablets to add to treated water to make it more palitable. I think they used Life Savers as well. Nowadays we have drink powders like lemon or lime. They sell freeze dried lemon, orange and lime powders. Practice at home how much you need to help your drinking water. By the way everyone should read how the Tootsie Roll helped save marines in the Korean war.

Blackie and I have been friends for about fifty years.. he's probably the best friend I have. The neat thing is that he's the same person now as he was then. Well done Bear, you've got all the essentials covered in a compact kit. But, did I miss your compass?...I left the room for a moment. I used to carry my UL fishing kit in GI web gear, it was handy for "hike-in" rivers and lakes, sometimes in the highlands.

Great video, as always. Pack would not be so heavy if you ditched the 1911 for a striker fired pistol. I'm just picking at you, I like 1911s. But I gotta say you get extra cool points for some of the things in the video, including your choice of reading, the red belly in the background, the Ruger hat, and the nifty little swiss lantern.

Hey Mr Bear still new to your channel and enjoying the videos. I also am a fan of Morknive a cool little secret of them I like is how you can link two of them together by their sheath by clicking one to the other by the belt clip onto that triangler button on the front of the sheath so you can have 2hanging from your belt one just below the top one comes in handy when skinning a deer or hog if the first one gets dull place back in its sheath and just reach down and grab the 2nd one that’s still sharp and ready to go although not all their sheaths have that ability but pretty handy for the ones that do . Also was wondering where you got the little stove set you showed in this video
@baileybrunson42
@baileybrunson42 Ай бұрын
That's a neat trick to know JB.. never thought about it. I got that little stove when I was a Scoutmaster back in the '90s.. it's a Mountain Trails product I picked up at Walmart.. see if you can find a website for Mountain Trails or perhaps eBay.. it just might be there.. 🐻

I’m putting together a buttpack for those 1 day hikes that might turn into an overnighter. I’ve been using my haversack but it gets a little uncomfortable on the shoulder with that kind of load. I don’t like a backpack on these hot days, sweats me to death!

Sounds like the buttpack is your perfect option then Oste..! I agree with you the haversack is awesome but can be a bit limiting in it's ability to carry comfortably for an overnighter. It does however make an incredible supplement to the buttpack for your overnight comfort and stay.. 🐻
