Great job Eric. Love the military logos and his channel logo artwork. AWESOME!! I use the 3M 77 adhesive and regular copy paper. I only apply the glue to one side, press it on, let it stand a few minutes and carve. Easy removal for me. I have never had to use the mineral spirits to clean up the board.

Consider using some blue masking tape to rub over cut out letters, to pull the rest of the papaer carved through up and away. It works for me (I also use thin - 20 pound paper, so there is less paper to block the image, and pull away) Great detail on all of your videos; I've learned a lot. Also for some paper ou can use w spray of water to make it thinner, and make the paper softer to remove with a plastic spatula or guitar pick.

Hi Martin, thank you for watching. We appreciate it. A great general purpose router if you're going to buy new is the Porter Cable 690LR or the Dewalt 618. You maybe able to find a good used router at pawn ships or on craigslist. For router bits I recommend the profile bit, the 60 degree v groove, and the 90 degree v groove. These router bits are all available on our website makeawoodsign.com. There are lots of other stuff available on the website as well. If you want to start with layout letters I recommend 1.5" set of clarendon they are on the website as well. Hope this helps. You can always email me directly as well. eric@makeawoodsign.com. Thank you again, Eric

I posted this on #106 as well as here. You can save yourself glue and a mess with the glue if you read a method I have been using for quite a while. here it is...Hi Guys, been watching a lot of your videos as I want to try getting into the carving business. I'm watching your video using the backing from a sticker label sheet. I have found a cheaper and great way to transfer letters or patterns similar to what you're doing. I went out to the grocery store and bought freezer paper (about $7 per roll for 50 feet). It's beside the aluminum foil and cling wrap. The one I bought was made by Reynolds. Pull out some of the freezer paper (cut about 12 inches), get a sheet of heavy card stock 8 1/2 x 11 and cut two sheets at a time. Now get a hot iron and go over the dull side (not shiny side, it will stick to your iron), this will stop the paper from curling. Take one piece and place it into your printer. Go to your printer and go to set-up, click mirror image. Now go back and print. Whenever it comes out of printer your image will be backwards, take it to your wood project and rub it with your hand or fingers. Now your image is right side up ready for carving. Make sure you line it up real good, no room for error. The nice thing is, if you make a mistake, take your sander and get rid of the mess and start again. I usually mark a line on my wood where I want it to go. I then trim my paper at bottom with a ruler, draw a line and cut your paper. Mark your paper at bottom with a pen or fine marker (on opposite side) if the pen won't write on shiny side.So you can line up where you want to place it. It's real easy. By the way, some people use wax paper, I find that the freezer paper works best as it is thicker for going through the printer. Have fun. Chris Turner (Edmonton, Canada).

Dave, enjoy your informative videos. My question was as much a comment as question. The touch up segment of your presentation showed your usage of the Tombow Brush Pens which are a water-based ink over paint. Didn't appear to provide the coverage you were seeking as the ink ran off and failed to adhere to the paint drips. Thanks, keep up the excellent work.
