Насчёт BMW не соглашусь всё зависит от хозяина авто ведь у плохого танцора всегда яйца мешаются и пол кривой так и не родивого ездюка Бэха всегда ломучее. У каждой своей машины есть плюсы и минусы, не до работки данной конструкции авто

My 1987 300D W124 has 378,000 miles on it now. Been through 17 winters in Maryland and so bought in 2000. It is just now starting to show rust. The original owner had it in Beverly Hills CA. from 1987 to 2000. I guess that helped a little.

During the winter, take your car to the car wash once a month to wash the salt off. That should prevent rust and corrosion.

The 124 was the last of the supposed 'spare no expense' design. I heard that most of the body was zinc coated before any primer in an effort to prevent rust, which at the time MB felt insulted if corrosion appeared on any car from 124 and earlier.If im wrong on this please correct me. I drive a 124 coupe 1994 that spent the first 8 years in Chicago and unfortunately has a couple of very minor rust spots but i still love that car . I bought it fromMB lease return for 12k with 60k miles and now it has over 400k miles . i think its time for the Tchain lol not even headgasket is leaking oil yet i dont even change the oil until at least 7500 mi.. Id love a turbo bandit kit DUH pumpish is nutz

The "last spare no expense" Merc (ppl say that for various models... usually the ones they own) is a myth that unfortunately gets perpetuated on the internet. All mercedes cars since the beginning were very well designed. Of course there are always teething issues at first with every model. That's why people have a false impression that newer models are somehow less reliable than old ones. This is not the case and the statistics prove otherwise - there are less breakdowns these days. When W124 came out the taxi drivers in Germany staged a protest in front of the factory due to perceived dip in quality compared to W123. But these were just teething issues. Eventually the cars proved reliable, as initial flaws were ironed out. Same thing is happening with every new model that comes out. The rust issue from the late 90s and early 00s is not strictly a mercedes issue but more of an industry issue - that's when all plants started using ecologically friendly colours which chipped easily, which in turn exposed bare metal that rusted.

today on brand new car u get 20yrs warranty on rust protection, w124s are holding wery well compared with modern plastic garbage, they are tested to last as average human life, 65-70 yrs.

If you look this video carefully, they had already a lot of robots and automation in use, like the welding robots. Machine actually is not a bad thing for quality at all, because machine usually produces constant quality, it produces exactly as good quality as the machine is designed to do. Reliability and strength are mostly about engineering and material choices, they are defined already long before anything is produced, by choices in the design and materials. The production is a process, and depending how good process the manufacturer has in use, it defines a lot about the quality of the production. Quality control is very important and actually modern technology has made it only a lot more powerful. But if the product is not designed to last in the first place, no matter how good and high quality production process you have, it is not going to last.
